Merged: Best recent Falcons Message Board quotes

Guys give them a break they have been watching college football for so long and have in the past few years become pro fans . . . the one guy who mentions tradition (albeit only points to last year) is the one who cracks me up the most . . . I live in Atlanta and I think The Atlanta Dream (WNBA) is more popular . . . this is a JV football town not a Varsity football town.

This may upset some people b/c there are alot of great fans on this board but Miami and Atlanta are terrible pro sports towns that have hard times selling tickets to any pro events- in Miami they even have problems selling UM football tickets as great as they have been through the years.

I was just over there and they have so many threads saying they are going to blow Miami out.. Thread titles with "we are going to beat Miami SO BAD !!" etc.

Here is a 7 page thread titled " Every Reason Atlanta will murder the Dolphins."

HAHA. Those people live in a cocoon.

In haven't seen too many, if any, predicitions on here saying Miami will lose the game.

Those silly Falcooon fans act as though they will be playing the Detroit Lions, who they played in their season opener last year.

Oh boy are they in for a rude awakening.

I dont like it but your right. Its not only pro sports its all sports. South Florida is a tough place to play. If your not winning the fans will abandon you.

It's hard for Atlanta fans to be proud of their own team because of the fact they've never really won anything...let them feel superior, it's ok.

Doesn't bother me at all. Those that understand south florida realize its a transient and retirement town. People grow up in other cities rooting for other teams, then move down here for the weather, no state income tax, etc. Doesn't mean we dont have our share of die hard fans. You spend enough time on the boards to know that. Also, listen to enough south florida sports talk and you'll quickly realize how much of a dolphins town this is.

What's more, The Dolphins have a huge national and even international fanbase. Go into a sports bar in most any given city and expect to find a Dolphin following.

Sigh.

One of the things that I think we are losing as a country is the ability to have a civilized discourse where the two parties have opposing views. Now if we meet someone we don't agree with it's "off with his head" (sorry, banish the poster).

nyjunc is actually one of the more reasonable opposing posters (I will not use the word "enemy", this ain't a war) I have run across. He admits the weak areas of his team which he loves. I don't begrudge him loving his team. I respect him for it.

There is only one effective way to shut up an opposing poster and unfortunately it is not under our control. That is if and when the Fins beat said opposing team into submission. And it only lasts until the next game. Odds are Fins will not beat everybody this year so someone will be able to crow over our beloved Fins. Such is life.

Make intelligent refutations of an opposing poster, but don't bleat that they should go away. That only proves their point. People only want to ban what they can't defeat head-to-head.

Agreed. We have enough cheerleaders on this board. I like an opposing opinion that makes me think, as long as its not blatant trolling and Junc has more than proven himself around here(though he does bring the jet agenda at times ;)).

We damn sure know Dolphin fans get torched for offering up viewpoints that may be considered anti-team, so I say bring on the opposition.

It's one thing to look at opposing opinions...

But it's another when Atlanta fans are so clueless about our team that they can't even name one of our defensive linemen without looking it up.

So their opinion is totally useless and worthless.

What Miami lacks in hometown fan base an attendance, it more than makes up in an national and international fan base. Just look at the last game we beat the Jets an won the division, the Dolphins chants were louder than the Jets chants a lot of the game. Also while attending some Cardinal vs Dolphins games, there are just as many Dolphins jerseys as Cards. Finally in my years in Europe, Dolphins, Cowboys, and Steelers Jerseys were all I saw.

hmmm, i guess 17 sacks isnt enough for them huh? douchebags.

yeah forget matchups. just take last years stats and it tells the whole story!

I think Atlanta is in for a big surprise. Still wondering who will be getting toasted tommorrow from our posse of receivers.
