We're not all that bad :p

Some of us are aware of the talent Miami have, but at the same time we're pretty confident in our talent. Pennginton was fantastic last year, extremely accurate and just a solid and stable player which are so undervalued at a position where not turning the ball over wins games.

It should be a great game (it's the game of the week bar Titans @ Steelers imo) and I'm interested to see how it goes. We're fantastic at home but it's a new season so it's one that while I think we will win, I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't because both are good sides.

The defence wins games thing is a bit of a myth imo. Good teams win games. Whether you do that by scoring points or stopping the other team scoring its all the same.

Not true at all.. Just look at the teams that didnt make the playoffs last year that had good offenses but lacked defense... Denver, Saints, Packers, Texans, New England to a lesser degree. Teams that DID make the playoffs that werent known as offensive teams... Steelers, Ravens, Titans, Giants (especially after losing Plax)

It's time to for the Dolphins to clip the wings of the Dirty Birds BIGTIME today. I want to see some DOMINATING defense out there. I want to see Channing Crowder slamming Michael Turner on his butt for losses all afternoon. I want to see Sean Smith and Will Allen make a fool out of Matt Ryan with 2-3 picks. The NFL world is going to see that the 2008 Dolphins were NOT a fluke. Not at all.

The Cards were not a good defence, neither were the Falcons, while the Chargers struggled defensively and the Colts were poor defensively

You need balance which I think is the key. The Colts have had a bad defence for years but there good offence has carried them to one of the best winning records this century. Even when they won the SuperBowl their defence was pretty poor, with their hot streak coming against a collection of teams that couldn't pass the ball on pretty much anyone. I remember some games of them that year where a serious case could be made they had the worst defence in the NFL but they still made the playoffs and went onto win the SuperBowl.

Its another thing entirely if those offences are good offences. They all lacked balance. Good offences help you win the time of possession and limit turnovers, and they are big keys in winning the game. Obviously this works in conjunction with the defence.

Interesting that you mention the Giants, they were pretty good offensively running the ball but once they couldn't pass effectively (when Burress went down) is when their season started going south. As good as their defence is (and its amongst the best) they couldn't carry them when their offence became unable to effectively move the ball in the air.
