I heard he started out strong, then made a lot of mistakes on one drive. I try to listen to anyone who doesn't use sentences like "Loserman sux lolz", and based on those reports it seems like he seemed a little uncomfortable in the pocket and has a tendency to run it before he has to (A la Huard in 1999). Once he got into a rhythm, he seemed to do well against the Packers' defense... But in all fairness, who doesn't?
I also heard that the Bills' defense did great, as expected. Hopefully when I watch the actual scrimmage I can make my own decision on how the Bills played.

pretty much what i heard... he was a little jumpy and uncomfortable, but all of the mistakeshe made ae ones that can be coached. he is a huge improvement over deadslow. The D did dominate, and from the little action they got so did the special teams.

from the eyes of a pats fan, he didnt what i expected him to. He didnt blow people away like bills fans expected and he didnt tank like you guys were hoping for, he basically did what he was told to do without making many critical mistakes...thats what makes me fear the bills. As long as they can control JP's "rookie" mistakes(basically a rookie), they have the defense and special teams to have a strong season.

Yes, your D did look good.

Not taking anything away from the Bill's D, but man are the Packers going to suck this year.

hahaha yess
The Packers look like the need more than just Jim Bates..
well soon find out if it was Jim Bates Defense that made Miami or its players im going with players :D

The good (for the Bills fans): Losman did not suck. The snap was not his fault - watch the other lineman and the only one that moved was the center. It was the center's fault. Losman was very athletic and watching him run left to block was sweet. His first drive was very nice - he seemed quite settled and hit the open guys as he was expected. He also played the hand-offs well by making it look like he might keep the ball to throw.
The bad: he was jumpy in that entire second drive and threw an absolutely horrible (Fiedler like) throw to the right when he was pressured. The only reason it wasn't returned for an easy TD was because the db dropped it. The obvious play when he should have run instead of throwing. He had happy feet in the second drive.
Concerns for the Bills fans is that I saw a weak arm and the only throws he completed were the very simple ones to the flats. Seriously, you did not see any 'good' throws from him, only ones any pro qb should make (even Fiedler). His throwing motion on those short (<10 yds) throws was almost more of a push than a throw and each one was low which made the receiver slow down. It is early and he can still work on that, but he needs to change that throwing motion. His one hard throw was the one he should have run. He sure threw it hard and high, but he was also running forward and most qbs can throw it hard when running forward. I have not seen him play before so maybe he has anothe motion for longer throws? The jury is still definitely out on him, but he has quite a bit to still work on. I would give him a push for the day. Nothing great, nothing terrible (because that TD return was dropped).

I think the players and Bates both had a hand in the defense, see i think Bates will get that Packer defense turned around and i think our defense is still going to be very good, none is going to fold without the other. It's going to take Bates more time to fix that Lambeau mess though

Sorry, but I don't think the Packers have the interior d-line they need in Bates' scheme. They just aren't big enough and will not draw the double teams like Bowens and Chester. Their LBs were caught-up in the fray because they weren't sure which holes to fill. I think GB will stink this year.

Also, GB's line seems to have taken a hit and step backwards. I realize that the Bills d-line is vey good (man is Adams huge and strong) but they couldn't even pick-up the stunts or weak-side blitzes. When Rodgers came in he literally looked like a sitting duck. GB is in serious trouble.

Its only a scrimmage. Remember when Fiedler lit up the Titans a couple years ago in a scrimmage, we dominated, they sucked. Well, come the regular season guess which way it went, Titans did well and McNair was MVP.

I wouldn't put much stock in the thing, for Losman, the Bills D, packers D or whatever. I mean the Bills D should do well early, they have played together as a core for a couple years. The packers D on the other hand is really susceptible to the pass, at least it was last year, and without significant changes it looks like it will be again.

In terms of Losman, he looked like a rookie but he has some skill, no doubt. I think he could be a good QB if he stays healthy. He is a runner though, and that is worrisome. He is fairly thin and stands a good chance at getting hurt again because of his running ability and tendency. You just won't last long in the NFL that way. For example, early Fiedler would do great for the first half of the season, then he would get hurt on a scramble, and he would play mediocre or crappy ball the last half. Just the way it is for most scramblers, unless you are Steve Young.

I think you have great linebackers, a good line, and a great cornerback. I also think that Vincent won't last the whole year, he is too old. Milloy, same thing. I think you will take some hits this year, it will be interesting to see the bills respond. good luck.

They've got Grady who I think fits perfectly for Bates.....one slight problem though, I don't know if he's holding out or not but I do know he wants to be traded or cut so he can go elsewhere.

Credit where it's due....Buff D should be very very good this year. Downfield said it right, "great linebackers, a good line, and a great cornerback". Personally, I "used" to like Losman...then the Bills drafted him. I honestly thought we might be the ones who drafted him but we did the Feeley thing instead. We're going to have to see how that works out but the one thing I'm positve of and that's that the Bills SHOW more confidence in Losman than we SHOW in Feeley.

That said Buff has 2 of the 3 problems we had last year that will determine their season...Uproven QB (feeley for us last year) and an offensive line that could very well be very...offsensive (just like ours last year). Of course that 3rd problem was RB back...ours, one of if not the best RB in the league (arguable but in the top 2-3), quits just before TC destroying our season as he WAS our offense, Buffalo has that covered. Granted he's not in the top 3 RB in the league but he's got a shot at being in the top 5.

Anyway, that's the last I'll talk about the bills until we play them (in a postive way :) ) But they honestly do have an opportunity to have one of the top defenses in the league. It will be a tough game for us....but we'll win!

Hard to believe they sold out Lambeu for a freaking scrimage. Not even a preseason, but a SCRIMAGE !!!! Wow

Wasn't just a scrimmage. It's 'Family Night' in Green Bay. Tickets are eight bucks. Parking is 5 bucks. They gave away 20 game-worn jerseys. Fireworks, etc. etc. They do it every year, but this is the first year they hosted another team for it.

I read about it on the Packers' site.

"My favorite ever, I mean, Brett Favre, you have to have the jitters," Losman said. "Just watching him, you're in awe and you're on Lambeau Field."

Sounds like JP has a bad case of "John Maddenitis" ;)
