Merged: Bills/Packers Scrimmage-NFL Network

At least he didn't throw to the other side for a quick 6, which seemed to be the forte of one of your QBs last year who, if i recall correctly, had a heck of a lot more NFL experience than young Mr. Losman.

Feeley didn't throw a pick for 6 in the scrimmage last year.

Buffalo could have a great team if losman doesn't start. he made alot of bad decisions out there. 2nd best QB on his team, and he was about 4th best QB on the field tonight...

he did however give up a pick 6 to Carter a few practices ago...check awing's report.....

I can't believe nobody has mentioned it, but Bates looks absolutely ridiculous with a mustache. I laughed my azz off every time I saw him yell, because its always funny to see an old guy yell (like your grandpa), but my god, that upper lip fuzz was embarassing

You might be right about my adding the word "very" there--I'll stand by the fact that he had a "good" scrimmage, especially for someone who's had little experience starting inthe League. Very good might be overstating it.

BTW, here's my post from July 17, 2004 I was referencing earlier

"I have a hunch it's the Phins who are going to be getting reacquainted with losing (which admittedly hasn't happened much in South Florida)--an aging defense that may be missing another one of its best players for more than half the season, a makework O-line with unproven talent that's 80% reworked (Jeno James equals one good year, St. Clair, the human turnstyle, a rookie at one tackle and a second year guy at the other, McIntosh's injury, and the list goes on and on), and no one really jumping out to play QB (I read something on ESPN or CNNSI this week saying that Rosefels looked the best in your last minicamp). You may have the receivers and Ricky, but without the O-line and the QB to get them the ball, watch out. You guys are closer to the cliff than you think...."

I come here because I like talking football with intelligent fans of any stripe (and sometime, like last year's Ricky bizarro world experience, I actually just feel bad for you guys), but out of all the boards I visit, I must admit, this one has the most homers of any I've seen. Maybe it's just the Bills-Fins rivalry, but still.

If Ricky Williams was on the team last year, I think they'd be a team very similar to the Bills of last year. I'm not talking of how RW will do in 2005, because that is a mystery, but hypothetically saying if he was committed to football and continued to mask the hippy lettuce than I think the Phins of '04 and the Bills of '04 are very similar teams. There are alot of homers on this site, but doesn't it come with territory of going to another teams message board? See most rival fans who come to this site call everybody homers here, but they seem to find no wrong in there team.

Which mental mistakes were those, other than not running in when he had the chance? That's about all I counted--as even the GB announcers said, the blown snap was probably the center's fault, not his. Other than that, and one bad throw that might have been picked, a couple of incompletes was about the size of his "mental mistakes." At least he didn't throw to the other side for a quick 6, which seemed to be the forte of one of your QBs last year who, if i recall correctly, had a heck of a lot more NFL experience than young Mr. Losman.
They announcers said he made 6 mental errors jackass.... you keep saying " the annoucers said "

I was very happy with Losman tonight.

There were 2 throws that were bad. The One where he held it for awhile, rolled out and threw it in the hands of a Packer, who dropped it.

The Other was on the goal line where he should have run, but rifled the ball over the head of the WR and out of the Endzone.

Other than that, I couldnt have asked for a better performance. He came out and hit hos 1st 3 or 4 passes. Went like 8-12.

His release was lightning quick. I was actually surprised.

Are you blind? Did you see how many sacks he took? How he never seem to know where a blitz was coming. All that i saw was that he can run. Well like Sterling Sharpe said. "His legs are going to take his arm out of a job."

If your happy so be it. I know I'm happy Losman is starting...

Ah the scrimmage projection. Even more stupid than the preseason prediction. Any QB should look good in a scrimmage. No one actually game plans for a scrimmage. Its basically vanilla defense.

Anyone remember Spurrier running up the preseason scores and then getting killed starting with game 1.

Losman is going to find things a lot different next month. If he only looks ok now, it is going to be a long season for Buffalo.

Actually, when you scrimmage another team, Its much harder on the offense than the defense.

The scrimage is starting again on NFL channel right now. I watch most of it earlier, but I decided to watch some of it again before writing about it. JP did pretty good the first drive.. On the first play it was a reverse and I noticed JP is so fast that he caught up with the Lineman out front to block and actually passed them..The guy is fast.

I agree that scrimmages and preseason games are a useless measure on how teams will look when it's for real but it's nice to see the starters play well. I mean, a team like New England, whatever they do in preseason means nothing at all (although if they look bad it will be all over finheaven and buffalorange for sure) but for us and some younger players on the Bills having solid preseason games is encouraging but nothing more. I would never base any predictions off of it.

Also not to be a football geek but Spurrier won his first game as a head coach. You state he started losing right from week 1 which is indeed wrong. I know becuase I actually started Shane Matthews in my fantasy leauge and he threw 2 or 3 TD's in a WINNING effort.

The idiots who are comparing Spurrier and Butch Davis to Saban are forgetting one thing. Saban has coached at the NFL level as he coordinated a top 10 defense in Cleveland back in the early 90's.

I thought the only phase of the game that the Bills looked bad on was goal line defense. 3 out of 4 plays the Packers did play action and the Bills bit big time all 3 times and the Pack hit 3 easy scores. Other than that I thought the Bills looked pretty solid for 2 weeks of camp.
