2 - 1st round ours
46 - 2nd round from chiefs
70 - 3rd round from bears (we lost the 66 to the rams for morris)
104 - 4th round ours
162 - 5th round from chiefs (we gave them our 138)
216 - 7th round ours

Finally, the 2nd round pick and they don't have to cut anyone or guarantee any more money for older players. 2nd rounders are very cheap and usually quite talented. I'm for trading down til we've got about 7 of em.

You can only have so many high priced guys, regardless of talent. You build a champion through the draft with low priced players. Look at the redskins, they bring in big name guy after big name guy but two years later end up having to cut them or trade them elsewhere.

If the dolphins hadn't drafted Poole I would be quite upset right now but this truly is a great start to the weekend. It's nice to see Saban refuse to lower his demands also. The fifth round pick swap is a pittance.

Here's my question...and sorry if this has already been answered but....Why are the Fins conceding anything in this trade? I know its not all that much but why would we swap our 5th round choice for one of theirs (lower pick in that round)? After the Buchanon deal, in which a 2nd and a 3rd were dealt for a CB....I would've imagined that the price would've been a little higher than what the Fins got for Surtain.

The thing the Chiefs fans don't realize is that the not many QBs will actively challenge Surtain. The problem they're going to have is that unlike us, they don't have a Sam Madison opposite him. They better have a decent #2 come opening day, or he's gonna get abused.

That's because the club is on the verge of making a trade with Miami that would send disgruntled cornerback Patrick Surtain to the Chiefs for a second-round pick, the 46th overall, in Saturday's draft, NFL sources said early Friday.

The deal, which could be announced Friday, is contingent upon Surtain passing a team physical.
