Merged: Cops Report: T.O. tried to commit suicide

I'm not buying the PR spin.

FACT: TO has been playing in the NFL for over 10 years. He is probably very well versed in painkillers and other types of medication used to treat injury.

FACT: Every NFL team has a slew of doctors whose primary job is to diagnose and prescribe the safest and most effective medication possible. The likelihood that they prescribed a drug that would mix badly with his supplements is very, very slim.

FACT: TO is notorious for being extremely meticulous about what he puts into his body. I've read stories about him not eating a slice of pizza or drinking a beer at parties because of his obsession with his health. Knowing this, you would think that he would go to the nth degree to assure that his medication would be safe to take. He broke his wrist 10 days ago, and has probably been taking the pills since then. Why didn't something happen before today?

I totally believe the initial report. It's sad what happened, but his publicist is definitely doing some backtracking to cover up the fact that TO likely attempted suicide, or at least parasuicide (lackluster attempt for attention), last night.

Great post. I'm not buying it at all. Someone in the police dept leaked the report and they don't want to get sued, but they are not denying any of the report. The spin always comes after the fact. Look at porn star Paris Hilton. She was just going out to get some food, not drunk driving after partying all night. And who is going to believe his publicist, who gets paid loads of cash just to lie about this type of thing.

I don't know. At his press conference he didn't look or act like someone that was depressed. If you're depressed enough to attempt suicide, I'm willing to bet money that you couldn't pull off a press conference like he did. He seemed pretty coherent and in a normal state of mind while reporters were asking him questions.

Unfortuately I have been around people that tried to commit suicide. They go out their way to let you know it was not really what it seams and everything is great or fine. Nothing clears your mind like getting pumped full of charcoal.

Anyone who said he did this to get in the news is crazy. Hes already front page news, and in 2 weks he plays the Eagles where, he would really be in every headline again...

Yeah, maybe. I would think that if it was an actual suicide attempt, the hospital would have kept him longer that just overnight observation.

I never said I believed it but I certainly would not be surprised by it.

If anyone thinks they can seriously predict the parameters of justifiable behavior someone can set in their own mind, that person is crazy.

You can come up with any action that in your mind would be completely idiotic, illogical, or just plain wrong and I guarantee you that someone has already done it and justified doing it in their mind.

In the end, I think it will turn out that some media guy saw a chance to stir up a frenzy and ran with an unsubstantiated rumor. Not like they aren't well known for doing such things.

None of us know what really happened and in the end does it really matter? The guy isn't dead, that's all that matters.

Any deep issues attached to this are his problems to deal with.

i agree that the main thing is that he is alive.

i think he did try to kill himself or at least some half hearted attempt. i have read that the police report shows that the publicist told the cops he was doing so and the official report has items blacked out.

btw, i didnt know that a publicist would be with him at his house.

TO likes himself way too much to commit suicide - he's too narcissistic. He's po'd because he stopped being in the media because of his book and wanted to be front and center in the headlines again.

Aparently there's more to it... I actually feel somewhat sorry for the guy (sucker, I know):

Terrell Owens' trainer says recent events in the wide receiver's life may have contributed to his depression and/or attempt to commit suicide.
The trainer says Owens encountered a "perfect storm" upon learning he wouldn't be allowed to see his son on his seventh birthday, then hours later, Owens' fiancee left him. Whether he tried suicide or not, T.O.'s psyche can't be solid. We doubt it affects his on-field performance.

and abusing narcotics how? by takin perscription pain mediscine? and they suspended our guy for being stupid and not knowing what he was putting in his body. a substance that was BANNED.

cmon...laugh with me here.... and it is not...

and if you take more than prescribed, you are abusing them..and that he did it be accident should have NO bearing on it..OUR guy took meds with banned stuff in it by accident too.

Just heard the 9/11 tape of The Player's publicist. Sounded like The Player was in pretty bad shape when she found him, she sounded really scared he was going to die. She said he took too many pills. Now we might have to assume The Player was stupid, I mean I dont think she would have freaked out if The Player had taken 3 or 4 of the pills, sounded like The Player took ALOT of pills. Sounded really suspicious.
Now The Player's trainer said The Player had missed his sons 7th Birthday because of a breakup with his longtime fiance. The Player might have been in a weird state of mind. The Player doesnt seem stupid to me and The Player doesnt seem like the kind of idiot that would just take too many pills for pain. The Player wasnt hurt so bad that he needed to take 10 pills, hes not sick with terminal cancer.
I dont know what to think, but to me this whole thing sounds really suspicious, The Player has always been a really bizarre person that has acted in ways that have bordered on being insane. I dont know what to think but that phonecall was telling and really I think we will never really know what happened to The Player. The Player is going to be the story in the NFL again this year and I really didnt want to have another year being about The Player but I guess its his NFL now.

The whole situation is wierd as hell. There is probably no way we will ever know if T.O. really did want to kill himself. I personally don't see him doing it but than again how much do i really know about the guy?
