Merged: Could this game be Blacked Out?/What? Even opening day.

What are you talking about?

The Fins games always sell out. This one will sell out too.

They don't sell out, the tickets are bought out by the local stations, not individual fans..and the prices of tickets in Miami compared to other teams tickets should make every game a sellout..

I can't believe I forgot to mention the women. Thank you Spurz for catching that obvious oversite, and probably number 1 on the list. You sound as if you know from experience, and I'm sure if some of these guys who are so dissapointed in miami would be singing a different tune if they had their hands on one our lovely ladies down here that wear way too tight and way too short clothes.

Right, because there aren't any hot women anywhere else on the planet, and if you meet one, you just stop going to football games. Makes perfect sense. :shakeno:

but there is none hotter than down here, and obviously from your comment, you've never been down here to witness it for yourself. And if they want to go do other things, sometimes the nookie is worth watching it on t.v. instead of in person. I can gaurantee that Green Bay, for all their sell outs, would love to be lying on a beach down here next to a beautiful tanned hottie that has an a$$ that you would swear was too big to fit on those tight hips, instead of sitting in a frozen bowl next to the aforementioned fat guy eating a sausage

I guess you guys out there just will never understand, call us what you want. But I'm down here and you're not. End of story.

I guess you haven't seen the stadium in Tempe......remember the Dolphins are coming off of 4-12 and this is a notoriously fickle crowd in Miami.

But the morning Herald did say the game would be one TV.

Hmm lets see hold out to watch it in HD at home in my iunderwear and airconditioning, or pay $60 a seat to sit at 1pm in the worlds hottest and muggiest stadium... Yeah I'll take home where I can get a beer for < $1 instead of > $6. Half empty stadium and one of the worst products on the field according to what was seen last eyear and could be argued this preseason. Dolphins start winning that place fills up fast as heck. With wanyy and the 10-6 seasons that place was FULL.

Oh yeas i can say all of this cause I haven't missed a game in the last 3.5 years (not even left early untill this years preseason falcons game cause it sucked and my wife is pregnant and she hates (possibly more then me)missing games !!!!!!!The fans will come but the phins have to put a great product on the field

This is one complaint I have always had with the NFL. Dolphin Stadium seats something like 80K. Now compare our stadium to some others (Bengals stadium for example has only 65K capacity) Now why do we both have to sell out when we have that much larger of a stadium? It should be you have to either sell out or at least to x % of a sell out. This is frustrating. Granted it is all because we have crappy fair weather fans down here, but argh.

Incorrect. The true "sellout" capacity of Dolphins Stadium is around 63,000. The Club Seats and Luxury Boxes are NOT part of the total in NFL Sellout Policy. But this also means that the 65,000 seat stadium in Cincy only has to sell about 54,000.....but the Dolphins Stadium capacity (regular seats, club seats & luxury boxes) is only around 74,000 by the way.

Cincy also has a metro population of about 1.4 million, so true they have a smaller population to draw from. But that said, So Fla also has thousands of people from outside of the USA that are totally clueless as to what the NFL is, so our "market share" is probably % wise, the lowest in the nation.

If you check out the TV ratings, So Fla by far has the lowest local ratings for all the sports teams, and conversely has the highest % of viewers looking at Spanish TV stations. Its a cultural thing.....Hispanic women, especially those over the age of 45 or so haven't a clue what the Miami Dolphins are and don't care.

It comes down to this....Miami / Ft Lauderdale is a lousy market for sports, and sooner or later the Marlins will get this and move the team to another market. The Fins will stay because they are established enough.

I think they should have waited to announce the QB decision because its showing that Feeley's are heartbroken.

It is an embarrassment that we don't sell out. I would love to be able to go to every game and those who have the chance, don't. I have tickets to the New Orleans game but unless they play in Baton Rouge, I can't go. Went to the JAX preseason game too. People need to get off their butts and fill that stadium!!

I love fruit cups.

Defense wins games...
Offense puts buts in the stands...
When is the last time we had an offense?
The real problem in Miami though is so many people from other parts of the country that have moved in the area. I was really peeved a few years back we played the Ravens in a wildcard game which I drove 17hrs straight and was able to walk in and purchase tickets at gametime. My god you're in the playoffs .support the team!

All I know is that sunday ticket will show the game regardless if it sells out, but to people outside the local area of south Florida. So Tampa, Orlando and anything north and in between should be good to go.

:D  :redeye: :ally: :domodance :cpatch:

Yep, we are set according to the TV schedule here in Tampa!

Although I already talked it over with my wife and if it doesnt sell-out, which on Saturday I had a feeling it wasn't (although it might if the networks buy it out), I will take the 4 hour drive and see it in person.

Would you rather lie in a pool and watch it on TV for nothing...Or drop a hundred bucks for ticket and drinks...And deal with the hassle of traffic and parking?...And sweat your arse off!....If I lived in Miami and had the money I would be there on days when the weather was mild....But on the Steamier days I would be in the AC....Unless Marino were playing then I would walk through hot coals to see him play.

There is selling out the tickets and then there is selling out the team! There was a fans post earlier that stated-Arrive late and leave early! That is SOOOO true! The Dolphin games sellout because some company has to buy up the remaining tickets! Teams with a REAL home field advantage sellout do to the fans buying up all the tickets and staying the whole game! The Fins true home field advantage is the heat and the few TRUE fin fans who stay the whole game and give everything they have to root for our beloved fins! I have been to a Fins game in miami and have seen the half-hearted fans leave while the TRue -STAY!!!We just need more true fans to make it a real home field advantage!

it is true. i work for one of those companies and almost always you can get free tickets if it is a unpopular team that they are playing. miami fans are spoiled and alot of people that live around here are mostly from up north and only go to those games. when we play the jets they really do come out of the wood work.
