MERGED: Culpepper\Culpepper for 2nd

culpepper to st louis with linehan, bulger to miami, st louis get s our 2nd

I would hope we wouldn't consider Culpepper. He carries too many negatives right now. 1. Coming off a poor season 2. Coming off a major injury that will hinder his ability to participate in offseason camps 3. He wants a ridiculous raise on his current contract

Bulger is a good quarterback, but I don't think he necessarily fits our system. Bulger is great at standing in the pocket and delivering in the face of a rush, but he doesn't necessarily move that well and doesn't throw well on the run. However, if the coaches think he could get the job done, I wouldn't be opposed. I think Bulger would be happy in a situation where he isn't an open target for the pass rush. Martz is famous for leaving his quarterbacks without enough protection.

all of you people wanting Culpepper or Brooks need serious help. Our future QB lies in either Jay Cutler or Brodie Croyle. Two REAL QB's with both talent and football smarts. Something both culpepper and brooks lack

And what makes you think Cutler or Croyle will be better than Culpepper? Cutler might not even be available at 16 and Croyle was the QB for one of the worst offenses in college football last year. Give me a break.

Daunte Culpepper in 2004-2005 season

39 td's(only 13 of them to moss)

4,700 yards(only 700 of the to moss)

70% completion percentage

Bottom line is the guy is a stud. You can say that he will be a risk because of his knee, but to say that he isnt a good qb for us and wouldnt be a huge upgrade is flat out stupid. He had a few bad games, so he goes from one of the top qbs in the league to a terrible one. Add 20 percent to gus's completion percentage, double his touchdowns, double his yards, and then he's close to daunte culpepper. the guys is twice the quarterback we have.

I so tired of all the Jay Cutler hype. I bet you never saw him play single game other than the senior bowl.

Evidently there is merit to the hype. Boomer thinks the Titans take Cutler at #3 HEAD OF VINCE YOUNG. I love it!

listen... this topic has come up plenty of times. I'm going to once again state why it makes sense to make a deal for Daunte....

Yes the guy is coming off a serious knee injury and may have to sit out the 1st few weeks of next years regular season. Okay, that definitely isnt the way teams want to start off... I know that. But listen, the guy is going to recover fully from this injury and be even stronger and quicker than before. The medical technology and rehab programs that exist today are even better than when Willis McGahee went down. Look at him for example these days...

Culpepper is still young and an experienced QB in the NFL. He has a LB frame and can throw the deep ball probably better than any QB in the league. Some of you are stuck up on this fumble stat and I'll agree thats something to be concerned about. But people are quick to forget that Culpepper put up one the best QB passer ratings in NFL history two years ago and threw for over 40 TD's. He made the Pro-Bowl and would have been the league's MVP if it wasnt for a guy named Peyton.

Cutler/Croyle have talent, but its nowhere near the talent and NFL experience Daunte possesses. They're going to need years of grooming before they adjust to the NFL. If we can work something out with the Vikings to get Culpepper for lets say a 2nd rounder, a player and a pick, or something involving the Rams... we better pull the trigger!! Daunte is what every Dolphins fan has dreamed of since Marino retired... a franchise QB!!

wow another brilliant Jay Cutler or we die thread. :shakeno:

IMO:

Culpepepper (assuming he passes a Fins' exam on his knee) for a 2nd...Done.

Bulger for a 2nd...Done.

And if either of these teams want Ricky insead of the 2nd...Done and done.

Culpepper's big problem last season was Minnesota trying to turn a nice posession receiver (Nate Burleson) into a #1 WR. The rest of the "receiver corps" - were guys like Travis Taylor, Marcus Robinson and a reach of a rookie WR. I'd argue the best receiver on that team last year was Jermane Wiggins. If Minny had gotten Jerry Porter and a #1 instead of an average LB and a #1, Culpepper has a much different season and we aren't having this discussion.

Bulger is a very serviceable NFL starter. He'd be WAY better than anything we've had post-Marino. And in an offense that doesn't require your QB to be beaten every week (beware future Lions QBs!), I think he could stay healthy.

Culpepper for a 2nd is a no-brainer. You do it in a heartbeat.

im all for drafting Cutler or Croyle, but to say they are our future at QB is being a bit too optimistic considering they have yet to take a snap in the NFL. No one knows how either will pan out as a NFL starter as of yet. That being said, I do not feel as if Cpep is the answer for us either, coming off that injury and getting up there in age, not to mention the kind of $ he wants. I do believe we need to find a Vet. (or keep Gus) to help groom a rook QB behind this season. I for one wouldn't mind taking a shot a UFA Josh McCown or doing a cheap trade for Ramsey...both QB's have talent and have had NFL starting experience and I think Nick could only help them at this point in their careers while we work with our younger QB whether it be Cutler/Croyle or someone else in this years draft...just my 2 cents however...

Yeah I'd stay away from Culpepper. The main reason because of the money we would have to pay him. He may or may not be great again, but it's too much of a risk. We just need to bring up our own QB from the start.

No, you're right. I mean, what has Culpepper done except put together one the greatest seasons a QB ever had, along with 2 other seasons where his QB rating was over 96.

Culpepper has more fumbles than TD passes. He makes poor decisions when he is under pressure. Having said that he is a huge upgrade over Gus, but not what I want to invest in for the QB of the future.

Do you even check the stats before you post ridiculous comments? C-Pep has thrown 135 TDS in his career. He has fumbled 81 times but has only lost 33 of those. Do the research or lose your credibility........:fire:
