MERGED:does anyone else feel riped off/upset on this surtain deal?!?!

I Suppose you guys are right, I think that Sabin should have gotten something of a replacement first though, other than Poole.

Hey...Reggie Howard is actually a pretty good corner as well...so we've got he and Poole...

Let's face the facts...Pat hasn't been the same since he was injured in Indy.

ONLY 29, Please. That's not Old Old, but forget the number 29, and look at this number. 50.8 Million dollars. The Dolphins, who are getting younger, in cap trouble, draft trouble, depth trouble, had no chance of even paying Surtain close to that. 14 million to sign puts you in cap jail for years to come on a 29 year old. Only a QB is worth that money if he's really that good, because a QB can play into his mid 30's. The NFL is a Business. Pat is a great player, but he is not worth 50.8 million and 14 million to sign.

he was only 29 year old. he was better than madison and all we got was a second round pick. that f***ed up!!!!!

in my own opinion:D

NOPE! We Need Picks. And we did not have a 2nd rounder. I think we did about as well as we could have. Now Saban can solely focus on drafting the best player available at our #2 to trade for more picks. That is, assuming we don't get an offer we can't refuse before draft day.

If we take a RB at the #2 spot, he's not going to be traded.

It doesn't matter. We should get more for Pat than Oakland got for the underachieving Philip Buchanan. We didn't. Only in La La Land is Philip Buchanan more valuable than Patrick Surtain.

Come on...get real here. Buchanan hasn't peaked, but Pat has. Not to mention Pat's way more expensive. It's not fair to compare the two. If Philly gave a #2 for Owens...then that's pretty fair price for Pat.

Just because Oakland got the Texans to slightly overpay...that doesn't mean we should be able to make KC over pay too.

there's no way we would be able to get a 1st rounder for him. I'm surprised at the Chiefs-KNOWING we need to get rid of Surtain's contract, still coughed up that 2nd rounder. That being said, Surtain is waay better than Madison and in reality should be worth a high 1st round pick.

We should be getting their 2nd, both their 5ths, and at least their 3rd round pick next year.

It's been said by a few in here, but for those who think this was a stupid trade, here's the harsh reality:

Surtain would have been gone anyway after this season, and we would have gotten nothing, zip in return.

I think the world of Pat, and I wish him luck with the Chiefs. But if we're going to improve, we've got to get younger and leaner. 8 million off the cap is a big step in helping Miami achieve that goal.

Agreed. We got the short end of the stick on this one, but Saban wanted that pick. The only part of this that might make it more palatable is Pat's recent injury history. IE maybe Nick knows that Pat's knee isn't as sound as it used to be. If that's the case and you couple that with the money factor then there is some argument to making the trade now. I still don't feel we got equal value though. We needed a first rounder. Philllip Buchanon netted a 2nd and a 3rd. I don't buy that Phillip is younger and has a cheaper contract. He's also a bust of a corner so it's not comparable.

Wrong...TO only brought a second rounder...get real. For OLD pro-bowlers with huge salaries...you get a second...and that's the high end.

It seems everyone is happy about losing Surtian, there was a reason he costed so much. Its because he's freakin good. A second round and swapping fifths sounds like a bad deal to me. Sabin couldn't even get one of the Chiefs players for him. Our secondry has gone from the best in the league to just another secondary. I'm wiggin out here, anyone else sad about losing him at all. Cap eater or not!:roflmao:

I for one am not happy about losing Surtain, but this is a business, and guess what, this won't be the last time that we lose one of our core players. Jason Taylor, Zack Thomas or Madison could become cap casualties in the near future.

Note: As much as I like Surtain, i think that contract is rediclous

FinFan013 You are my new Hero, that's the kind of trade that loses fanbase. I thought Wanny was an idiot but ditching Surtain for some edited draft picks. We couldn't get rid of Madison or anybody. i would happier at the loss of our entire recieving core than Surtain. Im so pissed off right now. You know what i'm just going to stop before I say somehting that gets me banned from this site.:fire: :fire: My life now completely sucks. Way to go freeing up edited room.
