MERGED:does anyone else feel riped off/upset on this surtain deal?!?!

we have need areas, we cannot afford to keep pat for the $$ he was asking. KC had to know this and still gave us a #2 for him. very satisfied.

More than satisfied.:D

Come on...get real here. Buchanan hasn't peaked, but Pat has. Not to mention Pat's way more expensive. It's not fair to compare the two. If Philly gave a #2 for Owens...then that's pretty fair price for Pat.

Just because Oakland got the Texans to slightly overpay...that doesn't mean we should be able to make KC over pay too.

Owens is a wide receiver. A top wide receiver is never worth more than a top corner. Surtain holds more value than Owens, because the position Surtain plays a much more difficult to fill than the dime a dozen wide receiver position.

It seems everyone is happy about losing Surtian, there was a reason he costed so much. Its because he's freakin good. A second round and swapping fifths sounds like a bad deal to me. Sabin couldn't even get one of the Chiefs players for him. Our secondry has gone from the best in the league to just another secondary. I'm wiggin out here, anyone else sad about losing him at all. Cap eater or not!:roflmao:
Face reality pal....Wouldn't have been able to sign any of our draft picks with this guys hit. Don't get hung up on what he has done for us in the past. This deal had to be made, and to say it was a bad deal is utterly idiotic. Thank God you don't make the decisions in htis organization. It would be nice if you were running the show up in New England though!

So, to you it doesn't matter that Patrick is ten times player Philip Buchanan will ever be?

A terrible precedent has been set. The Miami Dolphins are willing to give away players at the positions of value for virtually nothing. They did it with Adewale Ogunleye last year, and they have done it again with Patrick Surtain.

Next thing you will tell me is that Jason Taylor isn't worth a 1st round pick.

Ok...tell me the last time someone paid a first rounder for a VET player??? Why do you think the Colts and Seahawks are willing to part with Edge and Alexander for 2nd rounders??? The same reason...they've peaked...and are now high cap number vets on the downsides of their career. Period. Again...look at TO.

I,m sure the first conversation these two teams had about Pat was a # 2 pick and what ever. Once the 2 pick was used by Saban , I think that it was a lock that it would not be to far from a 2 pick and thats how it work out.

So, Patrick Surtain is not one of the top corners in the league and Philip Buchanan is?

#1...Pat can't stay healthy.

#2...Buchanan returns punts too.

#3...Buchanan has two years of his rookie contract left.

#4...No one...I mean NO ONE knows how good Buchanan will be...you can say all you want about how much better Pat is...but Pat had Madison on the other side...Zach in the middle...and Jason,Tim, Larry, Wally up front. We have a much better supporting cast than Buchanan has ever had. All he's had is Woodson...who's been injured as well.

FinFan013 You are my new Hero, that's the kind of trade that loses fanbase. I thought Wanny was an idiot but ditching Surtain for some stupid fuc**** draft picks. We couldn't get rid of Madison or anybody. i would happier at the loss of our entire recieving core than Surtain. Im so pissed off right now. You know what i'm just going to stop before I say somehting that gets me banned from this site.:fire: :fire: My life now completely sucks. Way to go freeing up stupid fuc**** room.

Randy Moss, this year. There is no way Moss is worth more than one of the league's best corners.

My GOD, I definitely need a hit of whatever you're smoking.

Wanny messed us over, and we are still feeling the effects. It should have been Madison to go, keeping the younger Surtain, or if Howard hadn't been given that STUPID contract that forces the team to keep him also.

The reality is that the money to resign Pat was not there, and draft picks are critical to building this team and changing it to what Saban has in mind.

I think we should have gotten a second and fifth round pick for Surtain. KC got a good deal in the trade, no doubt.

Still, the Phins get a mid second round pick, and almost as important -save $6 million in cap space. This means money to sign the draft picks, and maybe add a FA player or two (remember the June 1st cuts).

I'll miss the combo of Surtain and Madison, no doubt, but I'll hope Poole can step up and be a quality starter. Remember the Pats won another Super Bowl without Law and a WR at CB. Wanny defense meant having superior players on defense, while Saban may get by with a better defensive system and good but not great players.

If this wasn't fair value for Surtian why haven't teams been beating down our dorr to make the trade?????

Tell me, in what world is a wide receiver, much less a wide receiver that is a malcontent, worth more than a great cornerback?

There are four positions that carry the highest value in the NFL, and wide receiver isn't one of them. Those positions are quarterback, offensive tackle, defensive end, and cornerback. Those are the value positions. Not wide receiver. Not running back. Not tight end. Not linebacker.

In the last year, we have now traded two players out of that group of the most valuable positions for virtually nothing.
