MERGED:exactly the reason NOT to take a rb at #2/The Ronnie Contract

Ok i love that we picked him at #2 BUT this contract bs is really gonna piss me off if this guy starts b@#$chin that his contract isnt big enough some one needs to tell him dont let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya.

news flash: RONNIE YOU NEVER PLAYED ONE DOWN IN THE NFL!

hey play a couple years lets find out what your really worth

wow, already people not liking the guy cuz he wants to get paid. Ronnie hasn't played a down in the NFL, BUT he has PROVEN that he deserved to be the #2 pick overall. He has paid his dues while in college as a premier RB. But now, he doesn't deserve to be paid as the #2 overall pick??? Look at Eli Manning...he got that HUGE contract even after his draft day tantrum. But thank goodness Ronnie is no Eli and he will be an impact player.

UNbelievable. This is not the type of guy that will hold out. It is not like him. If it was edwards, i could see your point.

The draft was just last weekend. You want him to sign before we pick in the second round? Relax. I know there isn't much else to talk about but give it a rest.
AGREED!! i laso think that part of the reason we took ronnie is cuz he will be easy to sign..thats the kind of guy he is

Oh, by the way, ofcourse he's going to get his money. Doens't mean he's going to hold out but he will get his money. What, Just b/c the dolphins drafted high this year, Agents are going to change their minds where their players will have to show what they do on the field b4 they get their big pay day????

Good post. I swear for every 100 stupid posts, there is one good one. Thank you!

By the way ... IMO, taking Edwards with our quarterback situation would have been like pimping out a Ford Escort. :D

nice... also, thanks for posting the earlier link. i agree with you. nobody is threatening to sit out or anything, and your link today combined with the article you posted on france yesterday helps me feel pretty good about the signability factor.

I love how one article about Ronnie's contract starts a boatload of threads saying things like "we shouldn't of drafterd him", "he doesn't deserve that kind of money" etc. NEGOTIATIONS HAVE NOT YET BEGUN people.

And if you have been paying attention to the NFL the last 10 or so years, you'd know that a No. 2 pick will get a LOT of money and a HUGE signing bonus.

Some of you scare me.:shakeno:
:yeahthat:

I cant believe alot of you, lets pay him! lets pay him! what happen to the last RB we payed alot to. I KNOW Ronnie isnt Ricky. It really chaps my A@# that people want all this money for playing a game, the only people that should get tons of money are the people that risk there lifes everyday for us, POLICE, FIREMEN, SOLDIERS ect. ect.

Brown will get paid a lot of money. #2 pick last year Robert Gallery signed a 7 year/60 million dollar incintive contract with 18.5 million in guaranteed money.

QB Rogers may put on a happy face about falling to GB at 24, but that cost him 10+ millions in guaranteed money.

LOL are you f***ing kidding me? Hey Ronnie, I know we picked you 2nd overall but we arent paying you what most football players make in your position, b/c the police officers should make more than you. Im not knocking those professions, but this is ridiculous.
Listen this is the board for the miami dolphins not let's change the world today board.
Im waiting for the "the more you know" star to fly over your post.

yeah and we had ricky in 2003 with 1853 yards and 4.8 ypc and where did that take us? as for last year, you tell me we which current rb in the nfl would have ran for anything behind that swiss cheese o line? IT IS A PASSING LEAGUE NOW. 3 YARDS AND A CLOUD OF DUST NO LONGER = SUPERBOWL. i would have taken the hit and given up the #2 for minny's #7 and #49, as was offered, contrary to saban lying and saying we did not recieve any trade down offers, and gotten either antrel rolle, mike williams or troy williamson with the #7. if i knew boston was coming back, i would replace surtain with that #7 by getting rolle if he was there, carlos rodgers if he wasnt.

Why did the Patriots trade for Corey Dillon if it's just a passing league? You need balance and the Dolphins didn't have a running game to take pressure off of the QB position. With Brown they will...

In Denver's system, they have plugged in guys who can rush for 1,000 yards. You want to know the difference between those running backs and a great running back? How many of them have matched Terrell Davis's 2,000 yard season?

ZERO.

Truer words have never been spoken!

Guys don't get worked up over this. Yes, the contract will be tricky and yes it will cost a lot. However, a am very confident that Ronnie will be at camp from day 1 because Saban understands what the #2 is worth, and we now have over $9 million in cap space. PLUS, this France guy doesn't look like he will be a pain like Rosenhaus.

you have a point, that Police, Firemen and soldiers should be paid a good salary, but guess what?? They don't have an audience. It's sad that a football player can get paid that much money, but we in general help that because we attend the games and pack the stadium and buy jerseys, caps and other memorabilia. So if you hate seeing these players getting this much money then we should boycott professional sports period...BUT that isn't gonna happen.

cry more everyone. its the #2 pick. Saban wants to not spend alot of money the #2 pick gets alot of money the phins dont have a lot of cap room. In the END it will all work
The thing is that we have a BOAT-LOAD of cap space. Over $9 million,

Here's Fanball's take on the Brown contract situation
France is not a ball-busting agent. This deal will get done. Wayne will not give Saban an offensive toy and then lock it away in a vault.
EDIT: Oops, here some linkage
Thanks Doc. ;) I didn't read all the posts, thanks for posting the link. France sounds like a pretty good guy after all. I'm relieved now, I just hate it when players (especially rookies) could end up holding out and especially Ronnie Brown of all people. Not his fault though, this deals take forever to make. Lets just hope he'll be able to take part of training camp. I'm relieved now. :D

I understand you point now as well.

I think it's crazy to think Clarett is going to out rush Brown this year though.

if they both started.... denver does always have a good o line, and who know how ours will end up, it could happen.
