This really smells of the media trying to put pressure on Saban to change his press policy...
Look, I like going to the mini camps, but you know what, I can never attend but one or two anyways...maybe on the weekends. As fans, we won't miss the camps very much. About the best thing is access to players occasionally after the sessions.
What this really says to me, is that he is really treating the whole organization like a business (btw, that's what it is)...He is telling the players to buckle down and treat the offseason as importantly as they should the regular season. I could care less about missing the camp, but let me see some progress in July and thru the season...

Then I read that people are saying "Well, if we don't win now him closing the mini's will prove he's wrong". Thats a laugh.
Sorry lads, but I'm one of knowledge to know that we won't be seeing the super bowl this season. I may be old, but I still don't remember any first time coaches in Miami ever doing that great the first year.
So lets look at a few SIMPLE facts. First off, our draft picks are extremely limited. Saban wants to build from the draft, he's said that already. Thus knowing that we have only a few picks, don't expect much this years draft. Second, I read someone say that "Saban's brought in a few scrubs". Well, since you have no draft picks hardly why wouldn't you bring in some vets for only 1 year. You're not giving the farm away for years to come, just trying to get by for this next season. Its logical and makes sense when you don't get emotional about it.
And lastly, cap issues. We've got them.
I think putting a rule in place, whether good or bad, is acceptable for Saban to do. He needs to show the players that he is the boss there now. And by doing this one simple act, he's showing the players that they need to focus on the field and not worry about what some whining fans want.

guys you have to look at the big picture... so what we dont have 'pictures' and what not to keep us excited about the upcoming season, but on the other hand saban wants to keep as many distractions out so he can focus on molding this team into championship calibre. also with him keeping fans out, it limits the news that gets out to the media so when opening day comes we surprise all teams because they wont know ziltch about our team... thats just my view on it
