MERGED: For once and for all Brown no backup...

If people are so hell bent on labeling Ronnie Brown a college "back-up" in a negative light, perhaps they should remember Oklahoma State's backfield from 1986-1987. Barry Sanders was Thurman Thomas's "back-up" for two seasons. If Barry didn't stay at Oklahoma State for that 1988 season, or if he and Thurman were the same age and graduated at the same time (like Ronnie and Caddy), then what would have become of Barry??? Just food for thought.

Go Phins!!!!!

good point. i didnt know that. thurman was a very, very good NFL player. but it does show that the back-up can outshine the starter in the pros

i think the back-up thing is overrated. tom brady the former michigan back-up, is now arguably the best QB in the NFL. it just shows that at at the college level, williams may have had the better skills at the time. it really doesnt speak to the potential of either one.

some guys are better suited to the college game while others dont enjoy their true success untill they reach the NFL style. Brown clearly has the physical tools and seems to have his head on straight. hes seems to be the kind of guy that will benifit from NFL (maybe not the 'Fins lol) blocking where the hole opens where its supposed to. in college, that hole isnt always there and you need a guy to bounce around and make his own plays.

i may have just made an argument not to take brown for our team, but it doesn't hinder my point
