Looks like we are going to get NAILED by tropical storm Katrina. Ft. Lauderdale city manager just got out of a meeting and they may cancell school for thurs and friday. Expect cat 1 storm by landfall on friday AM. Dumping 8-12 inches before. This is not a major storm but enough to put a damper on the wekkend and if it lingers possibly delay the game.

To all my florida brethren, lets batten down the hatches and stay safe, and hope that its much ado about nothing.

To the fin fans lets hope this is not a pre-cursor to this seasons success

Yeah, and you Fla guys take care of my house down there...Please...you let me down last year...

How's this sound....The Colorado Dolphins.....

I live in Colorado so bring us the Phins!!!!!!! :)

This brings up an interesting (and somewhat off topic) question that I have. I met a few people last year that live in Florida, and none of them really care about Hurricanes. To me, being a prarie guy, I think it would be enough to stop me from moving there, but they say they're not nearly as bad as they're made out to be. So to all you Floridians... how bad are they?

Anybody who tells you they don't care about hurricanes hasn't lived through having half of their roof ripped off and rain pouring through their light fixtures in the ceiling. And then a few weeks later, another one comes along and rips your blue tarp off the roof and it rains inside again. And then, the week the roofer can finally get shingles to re-do your roof, another storm comes and the next thing you know what's left of your ceiling caves in. How about being without power for days at a time? We're just now completing repairs on our home more than one year later. New roof, all new walls and ceilings, new wiring, new garage door (blown off and wrapped around the neighbors truck), new insulation, doors, fence, clothes, furniture, etc.. More than $60,000, insurance covered about $40,000. Then they non-renewed us. Yeah, hurricanes aren't so bad. Plus, that ba$tard had the same name as me. At least he spelled his with an "ey" instead of "ie" like me.

I used to think the same until I experienced one and it was only a category 3. Never knew 105mph winds could sound so damn scary :hide: . It feels and sounds like a freight train is circling your house over and over again at 200mph. Very loud. Also the constant squeaks and cracking be it from the trees and branches outside is not fun either. Sitting there expecting your roof to be ripped off any minute is not fun and that's what it feels like.

Tornado's are worse than hurricanes because you have no where near the amount of preperation time. The worst part is dealing with the heat after the storm and you're stuck with no powa!! HEY FPL GUY IF WE GIVE YOU OUR ACCOUNT NUMBERS CAN YOU GIVE US FIN FANS QUICK POWER RESTORE?? PRETTY PLEASE??!! LOL

I witnessed Hurricane Andrew (Category 5) slam through here and it was some scary shi* man! The winds were howling so loud and for so long too, it was crazy.

The reason why some people think they're not bad is because we usually have pretty fair warning for them. This is as quickly as one has developed and posed a threat in a long time.

If you live on the coast and are getting directly hit, they absolutely suck. You have to deal with losses of power for as much as 3 weeks (brutal in the SoFla summer), tornado force winds pelting your house, car, and everything around you for about a thousand times longer than a tornado does, and enough rain to turn streets into streams.

Plus, if you miss school, you usually have to make days up, which sucks when it happens later in the year and you really want the day off.

Other than that, they're a blast! But we don't get to sit around a campfire and toast marshmallows the whole time, that's for sure.
