Merged: HEre we go again!!! KAtrina Go Away

Oh no, South Florida is about to get hit by a hurricane and the preseason game might be postponed! What ever shall we do?

Come on, guys, it would be nice if they could get the game in, but there are more important things to consider with one of these than a preseason game.

i want to see the dolphins with a wet ball again... hope they can get better... it would be intresting to see... also, best wishes to everyone down south with this storm and the ones that will be hitting you later in the year. good luck

Ok...here goes.

First of all, anyone who says they don't care about hurricanes haven't been through one like Andrew...plain and simple, enough said.

Yes tornados are more catastrophic in smaller areas but what alot of those that say that don't realize is that hurricanes are often occompanied by MULTIPLE tornados touching down...especially in the Northeast quadrant of the storm which is generally the strongest.

Hurricanes suck...BIG TIME!!

something to consider; hurricane Andrew was the equivelent of an F-3 tornado 20 miles across with F-2 conditions another 10 miles in all directions. It came through at the tip of civilization which is shaped like a pie wedge and only effected a very narrow slice of people. Had it come ashore even 15 miles further north the damage would have been four fold. Had it turned north 50 miles sooner it would have got Miami-Ft Laudredale-Palm beach-OKEECHOBEE LAKE Tampa-Orlando, it would have been horribly devastating. The only real problem I have with this one(if it does not come north to Jensen and get me) is that it will dump copious amounts of water on an already overloaded system. Unnoticed by most, the most diverse ecosystem in North America has been totally devasted and has completely collapsed due to poor water management. This will finish the job if any significant rain falls on or north of Okeechobee Lake

As long as she heads do west Im a happy camper. Flooding should be the main issue even at 90 mph sustain your going to have little to no wind damage, aka roofing and stuff.

If it comes to far north I stand to lose my cottage into Indian River.

alright someone start up the "TS/HURRICANE KATRINA THREAD" we will give play by play action almost like the weather channel lol....on another note I hope they cover the field so its not too flooded.

I hope everyone down here in South Florida makes it through ok. Looks like the center of the storm is headed right for us in Broward. :(

Tornado's are worse than hurricanes because you have no where near the amount of preperation time. The worst part is dealing with the heat after the storm and you're stuck with no powa!! HEY FPL GUY IF WE GIVE YOU OUR ACCOUNT NUMBERS CAN YOU GIVE US FIN FANS QUICK POWER RESTORE?? PRETTY PLEASE??!! LOL
Uhhh...hurricanes pack tornadoes ya know! Double whammy!! Sustained winds with tornado threat. I had enough with evacuations with Ivan last year and Dennis this year... Katrina is looking to come my way up here in the panhandle once it crosses South Florida. I am sure it will be stronger before it comes here. Those gulf waters are crazy warm this time of year and perfect for strengthening hurricanes
