MERGED: Jason Taylor returning to the Dolphins for third stint

It wouldn't shock me to see both Taylor and Columbo waived before the season starts. My feeling is these guys are just here to provide veteran leadership and smarts during the shortened training camp. Sort of like those defensive linemen we brought in last year. One was a guy from the Saints and the other had played with Nolan in Denver. Can't remember their names. But we waived both before the season started and went with the young guys.

I doubt all that man...

Not if I expressed my hatred of them for years.

And people turn it into this cut and dry thing, "Well JT had no other choice! He had to sign in NY! Or he would have had to retire!" - give me a break. I'm sure the Jets, who offered him a really nice deal, weren't the only team willing to give him an incentive laden contract for 1 year. But he couldn't resist NEW YORK, NEW YOOOOOOOOORK. TO BE A PART OF IT, NEW YORK!!!! Those are his only motives here. Money and exposure, not morality.

how come, if he did not want to leave in first place!

how come, if he did not want to leave in first place!

He DID want to leave. He hated Parcells, he wants to be an actor/gain exposure, football is the furthest thing from his mind. He used and CONTINUES to use the Dolphins as a showcase for his eroding talent. We're the only team that keeps taking him back, and if he has a marginally good season this year he'll bolt again next year. If he wanted to stay in Miami, he easily could have. Period.

My final word on the topic is this: Mike Nolan has almost total autonomy on the defense and hey, who could argue with the results? If he doesn't sign off on this move I doubt it happens. This makes me think that Nolan has an idea of how to use JT and get some production out of him. And as I said before, you can't really argue with Nolan's track record.

if rex couldn't get anything out of Taylor I highly doubt Nolan can.

Nothin against Rex Ryan (can't even say that with a straight face), but the point here is that Nolan wouldn't have agreed to bringing JT in if he didn't think there was something he could do with him. Whether or not he'll produce results is yet to be seen, but Nolan has a very good track record, especially with pass rushers, so until he proves otherwise, one would have to think there is some semblance of a plan here.

Colombo wilk be cut but not Taylor

All is forgiven JT as long as you rip Brady and Sanchize a new one.

Why are people so upset? What did this team need? A situational pass-rusher...that's EXACTLY what JT is at this point of his career. He'll come in when Misi is out...now we just need to re-sign Ricky :D. I am definitely for this signing...I think the media/fans care more about the beef and drama than JT and the office do. Football is a business and they both understand that!

The only thing Jason Taylor vocally brings to the table is bull****, the bull**** that comes out of his mouth. How much he hates the Jets and their fans, how obnoxious they are, for 13 years we hear this and then he signs with them. He's a hypocrite. Ricky quit on this team because he lost passion for the game, because he hated being told what to do, and because he had serious mental issues. Jason Taylor never had passion for the game, he had passion for becoming an entertainment icon, so he bolted to New York, the enemy, a MORTAL sin. I will never forgive him for that.

Do you not remember the circumstances he left under?? He was basically forced to leave. The staff didnt want him on the team. To say Taylor doesnt have a passion for the game is asinine. Have we been watching the same player the last 14 years?? The only person on those team that had more passion for the game was Zack. JT didnt BOLT for New York. They were the only ones that offered him a job. If you worked for Coke, and they fired you, and Pepsi offered you a job, are you going to say "Go to hell, I cant work for you, you were my competition!" - Cmon man. Get real...
