Note, this is just my speculation based in story above, but this would make perfect sense. We all know Ross is infatuated with Michigan Man Harbaugh. This would be the one move that might alter the perception of the franchise.

If SF doesn't want to give Harbaugh what he wants, I could see them agreeing to a trade and Harbaugh may prefer Miami to the Browns due to locale, ownership (Michigan connection) and QB (assuming he doesn't tank)

I could even see Hickey staying on as a glorified scout (but GM in name) if he does an OK job this year with Harbaugj holding all the power he craves.

The only downside would be the depletion of several valuable draft picks. But I would be willing to do it if we get the right coach.

Or they could just sign him if SF doesn't extend him. Here is what's on rotoworld:

The National Football Post's Jason Cole expects the Dolphins to pursue Jim Harbaugh next offseason, "barring a Super Bowl win by the 49ers."

That should help Joe Philbin sleep at night. According to Cole, the "rumor was already out there," and "only got stronger this weekend." Cole's report runs concurrent to one from CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco, who passed along Monday that the "feeling within the organization is that Harbaugh is not going to be a 10-year coach with the 49ers." San Francisco has re-emerged as one of the league's elite franchises, but it's got a serious issue on its hands.

SF will give harbaugh what he wants!! End of story.

I'm really not so sure anymore. It seems like many in the org don't like him, even if he is a good coach. They may prefer the guy bringing in the talent over the coach, and figure that another coach could get similar results with the talent on the team.

Can't trade for a coach. It's a tricky scenario where a team can give a team compensation for basically buying out that coaches contract. The coach is then free to sign with another team...if Harbaugh doesn't want to come to Miami...you can't force him.

Yes, it's predicated on whether Harbaugh would want to come or not... I think he may given all the things I mentioned: locale, power, QB and owner with Michigan roots

Or he can go to Oakland and stay in California where his wife likes it.

Ross needs to stop bending over and taking it up the behind for every media anointed diamond in the sky.

Harbaugh is a nice idea, but give us a guy who genuinely WANTS to be here.

If Philbin fails??? He already freaking failed. Go get Harbaugh even if the price is steep. We need a winner HC and we haven't had one in a heck of a long time.
