MERGED: John Clayton mentions Miami as possible destination for Knowshon Moreno

1. That's not remotely his biggest knock. His biggest knock is that he runs the ball poorly, which is a RB's #1 job if you didn't know.
2. "we don't have a good history of drafting RBs" since when does the resume of one GM affect the next one's performance? The answer is never.

Whoaaa shots fired, sounds like you got some sand stuck up you know where.

Runs the ball poorly huh?....his career #s don't really help you much on that argument.....and in case you haven't noticed our RBs run the ball pretty poorly too, only difference is this guy can block. so guess what? he makes this team better the moment he is signed. 2 year stop gap, give us time to find a real answer at RB.

you're right, one GM's resume has nothing to do with the next, but it sure does effect my perception of how this team functions as a whole. Also I think it was mentioned earlier that drafting RBs isn't a very reliable process for ANY team. So we can either a) stick with what we have and cross our fingers our drafted RB is capable of taking significant snaps and picking up a blitz effectively or b) go with an option that may not be flashy or long term solution, but is proven to be a contributor in a few different ways. Like I said, I don't really care who it is we sign but we should sign someone to improve what we have.

really good post though seriously.

If the reports I've read are true, the Dolphins would prefer to draft a running back than to sign one of the available free agents.

If this is the route they are planning to go then we should have been jockeying to grab another "top" o-line man. We can't head to the draft so many holes to fill. IMO we have holes at O-line and have upgrades needed at lb/corner/rb. Can't fix everything and every team has a weakness someplace. IDK I just think we have a better chance if we had signed another capable gaurd and a vet RB. Then went to the draft with a hole at o-line and the want to upgrade everwhere else. Just my opinion.

Moreno would be the best RB on the team if he signs with us. Moreno would be a #2 Rb on our team, or even a 1B if carries ar limited and he can stay healthy, but we still need to find a #1 RB. And if you cant tell, I think Lamar Miller and Daniel Thomas are 3rd string at best. Both need to be upgraded, and Moreno is a start.

Grab another "top" o-lineman? Who in free agency would you consider a "top" o-lineman that is not only a must have but fit the scheme we want to run? Even is we do sign one of the remaining free agent O-linemen, I think we will still be drafting two o-linemen and a running back.

i think getting a solid FA RB that can pass protect, can help with a struggling oline. would be tough to fix the entire oline in one offseason. unless there's a good pass blocking RB in the draft, that could be had in the mid rounds. Basically what i'm saying, is even if miami drafts 2 olineman, the chances of them starting are slim. and if they are, they may have rookie mistakes. a veteran pass protector like MJD would go a long way.

This is exactly my point. I dont think there are any more available lineman in FA. So like Truedolfan has stated and mentioned a good vet back cab help with those young olineman that we HAVE to draft. I just dont see the need to go into the draft with all these needs when there are players available that can help.

Crap man, sorry I sounded like a jerk.

We may not have much of a choice. We don't know what players like Moreno are asking for or even if they want to sign with a team before training camp in July. Many veteran players want to avoid the grind of OTAs and mini-camp so they will take their time before signing.

Moreno would be a good short term fix because of his pass blocking but that is about all I would count on him for.

I like Knowshon but lets wait until after the draft to sign him, lets see what we get in the draft and then we will be able to sign a much more team friendly contract.....He is not that good that we need to sign him now

Shocker he didn't have 1000 yards as the third back behind Reggie and Thomas. Or last year with our abysmal line, in which Thomas saw a lot of time as well.

Do you guys really believe Moreno would be as successful here last year as he was in Denver?

Was never a fan of Moreno. I think he's an average tailback. Not a surprise that he blew up once Peyton was slinging the rock around. Talk about pass to set up the run. This would be a big mistake for us to invest money in him. I'd rather take a tailback late in the draft.

No worries brotha appreciate the apology! In all honesty I didn't know anything of Moreno prior to this year, and just want to see our run game (mostly from a protection standpoint) improved!

Phins UP!

Ok so the vaerage back you speak if his heads and tails better than anything on roster - so if the Drafted Rb gets hurt..... (I agree we draft one in the third rd)
