MERGED: John Clayton mentions Miami as possible destination for Knowshon Moreno

How was he a Bust? He was avg 4.8 yards per carry up until he got hurt in 2011. You do know he was hurt in 2011 right? He tore his ACL. You do know that Denver took Ball as becasue they were not sure how he was going to return after his injury right? You do know that he only played in 7 games in 2012 right that was becasue he was sidelined the beginning of the season coming off of his injry. You realize that once he was 100% he again averaged 4.1 yards per carry right? So tell me again how he was a bust before Manning cause up until Manning going to Denver he was avering more yards per carry.

I would love to hear this. Tell me something I don't know. Help me undertand.

Really dont matter as report is this was a made up rumor.

actually, the broncos started the 2011 season, with moreno and mcgahee splitting carries. soon, lost carries due to mcgahee outperforming moreno. then moreno got injured. in 2012, moreno got benched again and ruled inactive for 8 games. he only got reactivated because mcgahee got put on IR.

granted, after that, moreno has been playing better, but that could be said because he was nearing the end of his contract...

Just for everyone throwing out averages:

Miller averaged 4.9 in 2012 and 4.0 in 2013

Thomas on the other hand- 3.5, 3.6, 3.7

Not good but if all were gonna look at is his average, Miller is right around the same number. Personally, I'll take the word of the guys that have seen all of Moreno's games because of where they live

No not correct. Knowshon tore his ACL at the end of the 2011 season. He did not take another snap until mid 2012 season when megahee got hurt.

One thing about Moreno is he's a great locker room guy and a leader. Can't stay healthy to save his life usually (although last yr he did) and I would hope it would be a team friendly deal, but he will provide leadership to a team that needs it on the offensive side of the ball

YUP!

Miller also has yet to reach 1000 yards total in 2 years and have 3 touchdows. Knowshon has more yars and toucgdowns in 1 season then Miller has in his short career.

But Miller is WAAAAAYYYYYY better.

BTW I was refering to Knowshons ROOKIE year too.....

negative ghost rider. Moreno scored a TD in 2012, in the very first game of the season vs pitt. then benched after fumbling the ball in the next game vs atl.

edit: moreno got hurt mid november in 2011

Shocker he didn't have 1000 yards as the third back behind Reggie and Thomas. Or last year with our abysmal line, in which Thomas saw a lot of time as well.

Do you guys really believe Moreno would be as successful here last year as he was in Denver?

Easy killer. I stand corrected. He had 5 carries to be exact before comming back after the Mcgahee injured. WHOA I will admitt when I am wrong.

this is getting old. He is not coming here. But to answer your question I think he was would have been more productive then Miller. Just the fact that he can run thru contact makes me believe that.

Lol, i was just giving you some knowledge that you asked for. He didn't get many carries before mcgahee got put on IR, because he got benched, not because of injury. So all in all, Moreno has looked good at the end of 2012, and while manning was there. And although he'd be better than Thomas (not saying much), I wouldn't want to spend the money on him.

I think we are on the same page. he is clearly better than Thomas. Hell I'm an 39 year old ex LB and I swear I am better than Thomas. So thas not much. I do believe he is a upgrade over Miller though. His blocking and ability to run thru contact alone is an upgrade and I believe he would be the starter here. I'm not saying he is the best FA availabe I think Blount is but thats another story. I wouln't be against him coming to Miami at the end of the day. Some people have the nerve to call him a bust of garbage I'm just pointing out how could he be that when he is better than anythign we have on the roster.

He's another one. I was giving Hickey a lot of credit at 1st and there is a lot left to develope but we clearly need a upgrade at RB and MJD or Blunt or Moreno is clearly doable and upgrades. maybe we are waiting for the market to shape out for RB as none of them have moved yet accept Tate. IDK.

holy cow everyone is really getting heated about this rumor....I don't see how his biggest knock is that he was part of the greatest offense of all time (13 tds)....

Denver isn't signing him because RB isn't a crucial spot for em now that Ball picked up his protection, they spent a high draft pick on him, and he's still on rookie tenure after their plethora of defensive signings.....and newflash, no RBs are getting love in FA because it's still early in FA....no one rushes to sign handmedown RBs.

kid can pass protect, and ours can't. we don't have a good history of drafting RBs, and I'm not sure I trust our FO to pick one out of the draft who is talented enough to come in day 1 and help our running game....because it sure as hell needs help. sign him, sign MJD (2nd choice), I don't really care but I am not going to be upset signing an RB who can pick up a blitz.

1. That's not remotely his biggest knock. His biggest knock is that he runs the ball poorly, which is a RB's #1 job if you didn't know.
2. "we don't have a good history of drafting RBs" since when does the resume of one GM affect the next one's performance? The answer is never.

If the reports I've read are true, the Dolphins would prefer to draft a running back than to sign one of the available free agents.
