Merged: Lamar Gordon to Jacksonville?

been busy lately? The titans got henry my friend.

work nights....sleep during the day......don't read up on the phins until after midnight usually..... :) Saw that about 2 mins after my post, lol

IMO JAX wont geive any more than a fifth for Lamar. I agree with CK Parrot that if we trade him, we have to be ready to cut our loses.

Still I wouldnt be so fast to trade him away given that Ronnie is still unsigned (and unproven), and Ricky is completely unreliable.

I'd like to keep him... he is still a good RB and gives us a demon backfield with Ronnie and Ricky.

On nfl live, John Clayton just mentioned that the Jaguars might be looking to Lamar Gordon to add depth behind Fred Taylor. Has anyone heard anything about this or is it just some rumor he mentioned in passing?

I could see this happening, with Kay Jay onboard as well as others, we have a bit of a logjam at RB.

JAX feels they are contenders and must get some depth for the injury prone Taylor.

On Lexus sportsxtra they basically think he will start. Ricky wont be able to play and they expect Ronnie to hold out...... Nice little interview with Zach too

Lamar Gordon is worth no more than a 5th round pick.....he wasn't last year when we gave up a 3rd for him, and he definately isn't now after he sat out last year injured.

Is Double O Saban up to his tricks again?

Did Saban plant the seeds for the story on how Ronnie may miss TC and how Gordon may start the season? What better way to increase Gordon's worth in the open market then to make it seem like he is needed on this team?

I've personally thought it a bit odd that the reason (as given in these articles) that Ronnie might miss camp is that his agent will wait to see how much Smith gets before signing a contract. Sure "slotting" takes place but its pretty hard to slot a RB based off of a #1 picked QB.

Wait.

Atleast till Ricky serves his suspension, by that time Ronnie will have signed and have gotten lots of reps as the first team TB.

Also F. Taylor should be hurt and will make the Jags a littler more willing to part with a 3rd pick.

Patience

It's been YEARS (nay, DECADES) since the Fins have had REAL DEPTH at RB. Lets keep it that way for a while...

How do you know we can't get anything higher than a 5th? Do you see into the future?.
In this case I can.

Let's say SA is on the trading block for a second and we announce we want a 3rd for Gordon. You automatically think they're going to trade for SA? Why? Do you know how much SA makes compared to Gordon? Believe it or not, teams consider the salary cap. I'm not saying we're going to get a 3rd. What I'm saying is, you can't compare other players with trades. It's a different situation for every player and team.
No one in their right mind (desperate or not)other than Spielman would give up a 3rd for a rb who's best year was 200+ yds. Gordon is just as proven as Toefield. Even their rookie from last year Greg Jones has 3 td's. That's 1 td more than Gordon had in his entire career. Why do you think Spielman is out of a GM job? I doubt he will ever get a GM job again.

I would rather give up a 5th for Morris before I give up a 5th for Gordon.Eddie George is still out there and he'd be a better pick-up than Gordon.

You're right. We won't get hardly anything for Gordan right now. The last thing he did was get injured. The last thing Morris did was average 4 yards per carry behind a terrible O-line. He is the one with value. Why trade Gordon and get nothing, I say we keep him to compete for the 3rd RB spot. Believe it or not, our 3rd RB will be used more than expected due to Ricky's 4 game suspension.

I believe you won't see much action until into the preseason. It may work to our advantage or disasvantage. If Lamar impresses and especially if taylor gets hurt while in preseason (which is very possible), you will see lamar's stock go way up and who knows what we will be able to get. Look at us last year. We went from a playoff contender to searching the alleyways for anyone who would run head first into a wall for the offensive genius porno stache.
