Merged: Manning to Meet With Miami Coach Joe Philbin

No. They can't let this go past the start of free agency. Joe needs to get a commitment or tell him no thanks.

Good luck to Coach Philbin. Can we fire Ireland already? Jesus, this just confirms nobody likes those two clowns Ross/Ireland.

Through all the muck, i think it's fairly simple..

He didn't love the paparazzi that followed him when he landed in Opa Locka. He probably got the same treatment in Denver and Arizona. He's a gentleman, so he's probably done with that. He knows the Dolphins facilities well. He obviously likes being in Miami. But he's done with the Hollywood aspect of it, and wants time to think. I'm sure he'd talk to any coach that approached him, because again, he's a classy guy. But he doesn't want to be recruited; he wants to talk football, and see whose thinking is similar to his own.

The guy is a class act, and similar to Pujols, probably doesn't want the Lebron-esque hype surrounding his free agency. He probably just wants time to think about where he wants to finish his career. I also think the Fins and Manning camp have been in contact for a while now, so no need to visit the facilities or do the whole wine n dine nonsense.

Miami, IMO, has already made it's pitch. Philbin will reiterate what the Fins are about. I, for one, am keeping the faith..

Can you imagine the pressure on Philbin right now.

Ross: Ok Joe do not **** this up, our organizational lives depend on it. Take this folksy good luck charm. ( hands him a Dolphins foot)
Ireland: Make sure his mom is not a prostitute! Bye!
Ross: That's not funny Jeff! Tell him whatever he wants he gets, even Jeff's wife.
ireland: hahahahaha . . .

So then I guess he doesn't like the Tennessee front office either? I think this says less about Ireland and Ross than it does about what Peyton is looking for in a team, and a coach. He wants to talk to the coaches because that's who he will be working with. He wants to know their ideas for him if he joins the team.

in my opinion, manning is probably hearing the owners pitch of "we want to win and I'm willing to do whatever it takes" every owner says that. no owner says "I'm in this for money, I don't care if we win or lose" Manning wants to meet with the football people now because from his last visits, the meetings with personell people were worthless. He wants to know from the coach what his plans are. what his philosophies are, and that's what he's going to make his decision on. Philbin came in to Miami and was able to impress everyone, I'm sure he has the ability to impress Manning.

I feel more confident having Philbin do the talking than anyone else in the organization. (unless Shula or Marino would talk on our behalf)

and again...these are two team facilities he KNOWS...he played in Tenn 2x a year...lives in Miami...played 2 super bowls in miami...I again honestly believe Miami has made him an offer...in fact looking back the 2 people that got bashed, Enduro and McMicheal pretty much said it would come down to middle/end of the week...along that though I wouldnt be surprised if Philbin has been keeping Flynn up to date on whats going on and were Miami stands...against the rules yea but hey..it happens

Manning prolly does not want to make any more visits to facilities because of what happened in denver and arizona. The circus showed up and straight up stalked a dude. If i was Manning i would keep it low key too until i decide....

I have a bad feeling we will get neither Manning nor Flynn.....we will be like the little kid on Halloween left with a big bag of nothing. Good things never happen to the Phins. :rolleyes2:

The DAWN my friend........... the DAWN

I agree with Roman...I hope Manning does come to Miami, but getting a bad feeling.

I hope Manning is still giving Miami a fair shot, if so, Philbin should do well when they meet.

im not sure if he really wants to come to miami why it would take so much convincing in the first place.thats just me.if hes in love with the idea it shouldnt be that hard to decide.unless he really had a hard time fathoming it in the first place for one reason or the other.
