MERGED: Schiano & Bucs near deal/Sherman in Miami this morning

Mike Sherman is not going to get another HC job, folks. He is 57 years old, not a splash hire and look around the league...retreads are not being picked up.

Miami would be a great landing spot for him.

I love Sherman, but I'm afraid he will be here 2 years max!
This is probably accurate. Sherman has been a head coach twice already(both in the NFL and college), and was a finalist for the Buccaneers job. Odds are teams will be calling as early as next offseason to talk to him about being a head coach. Even if it is just for a year, it is a tremendous hire if they can agree to a contract.

two good years would be great if he gets the blueprints for the west coast offense in place.

Implementing a new offense with a guy like Sherman calling the plays would be wonderful.

And former Packers HC Mike Sherman is in Miami today to see if the two sides can work out a deal for him to become Dolphins OC.

Can we get him under contract before we worry about him leaving? lol.

I've been waiting to hear about Sherman. To me, the offense needs all the TLC right now. I've been pulling for Philbin to get all the RIGHT help he needs down here. Including Flynn.

For some reason, I don't feel like this is gonna be Miami Bay. I really feel like Philbin will build a team with his vision USING what he's learned over the years.

Some coaches are identified by their systems. Some coaches are identified by their staff. Some coaches are identified by their players. But I don't get any of those vibes from him. Even the media has not really associated him with anything other than himself.

I really like the vibes coming from Philbin.

I know there's a lot of negativity for Ireland and some for Ross' hoof-in-mouth disease. But from the respect we're getting from the media and all of the great things I'm hearing, it really is starting to feel like we hired THE right guy.

He gives me those warm fuzzies. Not like a high profile guy does in which you are reassured by his name and past. But the deep down reassuring feeling that he has so much respect by his peers and colleagues that you feel calm. If everyone who knows the man has unwavering confidence in him.... that is something we truly have been missing.

Parcells was more of a dictator. People respected him, but he didn't care. He was going to do it his way or he wasn't going to do it.

Philbin is respected. In such a way that makes me feel his best is about to begin. And everyone around him can feel it too.

WE FINALLY HAVE A COACH! Feel free to pinch yourself!

I guess any OC that has success will move on to HC!

looking good for us to get him even if he'll be here only for a year or 2

Ozzy rules!!

Who is going to hire Mike Sherman as a HC at 59 years old? Get him signed up and he will be as long as Philbin.

Great news since the Bucs seem all over the place in their search.

Wow, uncharacteristically, things are falling into place very nicely (and that includes The Meatball and "the idiot OL savant" offloaded onto the jersey wastelands)

Shermann in Miami "to see if they can come to agreement"? Anyone think they couldn't? lol
