Merged: Steve Slaton released by Texans, signed by Fins

This is a strange move. I like Slaton and this would have been a nifty pick up last year. But to spend that kind of cash for someone who does what Reggie is supposed to be doing... I don't get it. If we have that money to throw around why didn't we address the oline...

Because Ireland's job is to look like he's trying, but not actually fix any of the real problems.

can he play RT, TE, PASS RUSHING OUTSIDE LB, CB, FS? oh he cant? then who cares were 0-3 this does nothing for us!

Would this theoretic RT look good in a Dallas uni? If he would, then they could probably justify slamming the two backs together for a RT.

Wasn't he great at West Virginia where he set all kinds of records?

oh **** ........................................

Miami Dolphins claimed former Texans RB Steve Slaton on waivers.

Dolphins claimed RB Steve Slaton off waivers from the Texans.

It's a bit of a curious move because the Fins have a similar player in Reggie Bush, but was probably just made as Reggie insurance. Slaton, 25, can also return kicks. Averaging just 3.24 yards per carry on 170 attempts since his flash-in-the-pan rookie season, however, Slaton adds nothing as an inside ball carrier. He's essentially Bush's direct backup. Lex Hilliard holds the same role behind Daniel Thomas. Don't expect Slaton to accrue fantasy value this season barring injuries to all three of the above.
