Merged: The Official Available players cut by other teams thread

Roby got released by the Saints....he looked pretty good as a returner the other day:

WR Courtney Roby signed with the Saints early in the 2008 season and served as the team’s primary kickoff returner before landing on injured reserve. In 31 career games, the fourth-year wide receiver has caught 23 passes for 317 yards and a touchdown and averaged 23.2 yards on 46 kickoff returns. He played in three games this preseason and averaged 21.8 yards on six kickoff returns along with one reception for eight yards.

Zach Thomas just released by the Chiefs....per NFL Network.

Raiders release veteran QB Garcia

The Crypt-keeper strikes again. Grabowski, Frye and an occasionally out of shape, overweight #1 QB pick who in his first year actually underperformed Beck and according to the Raider Forums cares more about partying and bling than practice. Good move Al!

Wonder if Minnesota would take a mulligan if they knew what they know now.

Names that caught my eye:

1. OT Jamon Meridith (great athleticism but may lack power for Sparano. You would think he could pass block, though)
2. OT Lydon Murtha (good size but may not have the feet you want, and released by Detroit)
3. S Bernard Pollard (may lack range but big hitter, may not be very different from what we have already)
4. ILB Beau Bell (I liked him in '08 draft as ILB, good thumper but the fact that Mangini's 3-4 couldn't use him does not bode well)
5. KR Figurs
6. WR Isiah Stanback (I think he was an Ireland position conversion experiment in Dallas--but not sure we have a spot for him. Certainly management and coaching staff know him)

The reality is that teams cut these guys for a reason. I don't think we can expect much.

Jamon is a interesting guy, would love to put him on our PS and let our trainers and weight room workouts put some strength on him

Raiders cut Justin Miller (again). He's still a good return man.

Chase Daniels is one I think that has some serious upside. Watched 3 of the Redskins games and his play wasn't all that bad.

We put in a waiver claim on him, but the Raiders grabbed him.

It's possible we could give him another look. Not sure who we would cut if we picked him up. Nalbone maybe?

I would think Nalbone and Hilliard are the first two that would be cut or moved to the practice sqaud.

I would also not be surprised to see James Marten a former OT from Boston College and project of Parcells/Ireland and Dallas brought in a la Joe Berger.

I agree. Although, Hilliard could continue to stick if they think he can also play some fullback and be good on special teams.

How about OT Oliver Ross from The Cards, also a former Steeler.

Dump Garner or Gardner and replace either one with him for better depth.

Dude, right on. I was really straing to find any servicable OT.
