Merged:When and HOW did you become a FinFan?

This has probably been asked several times. But just out of curiousity: How, when and why did everyone become Dolphin fans?
Me? I can vaguely remember when I was 5 years old, my brother was a Cowboys fan(yikes) and they were playing Miami. Just to annoy my brother, I kept saying go Dolphins, etc. Miami won the game. After that, I'd beg my dad to buy me Miami Dolphins clothes, pennants, garbage cans, football cards, etc. So I have been a Dolphins fan pretty much all of my life.

I was 12 years old in 1982. My dad was watching football on TV. I was playing street football with my friends outside. I went in to get a drink when I saw the Dolphins just win the AFC Championship Game. I asked my dad who won he said the DOLPHINS. I said "Cool". He told me they were going to the Super Bowl XVII. I told him I like them alot Dad. Can we go see them. He told me yes son we can. So, on January 30th, 1983 I went to the Super Bowl in Pasdena Rose Bowl. My dad bought me a shirt and a cap. I was so excited. On first play we ran the ball back for a TD. We lost the game 27-17 and I cried with my Dad. I told my Dad this is going to be my team for life. My dad told me they will be back. They are a very great team son. So since then, I have been a fan. I am 34 now. I love my Dolphins win or lose. There is no other team that ever compares to the Miami Dolphins period no ever mark my words. Great post.

How did you become a Phin fan??

After reading the "what college team do you root for?" thread I realized that there is one more question that I think would be very interesting to know.... How did you become a phin fan? I mean, we probably have all states and even some countries represented on this board as well as a wide range of ages, so... how did you get to love the dolphins so much?

My story... I have lived in Mexico City, Philadelphia, Miami, and Grand Rapids. My first love is soccer. Before I moved to Miami I had no interest in football, however, the fans in the city are crazy about the Dolphins and it wasn't too long before I started watching games (mostly to have something to talk abotu with my friends). After that, I got hooked. Before I realized it I found myself just waiting for Sunday to role around just to watch the fins. I started buying fins stuff and realized that I was turning into a hardcore fan. Now, I live in Michigan and am surrounded by Lions fans. However, I have Finheaven, Sun-Sentinel, Miami Herald and NFL.com all bookmarked on my computer and visit each one probably about 10 times a day, excluding finheaven which is severly more (no exaggeration).

I am sad to say, though, that my first ever Dolphins game I watched was the blowout in Jacksonville...Marino's last game. The most I remember from that game is that the sprinklers went on during the game (and even that is a bit hazy). The only QB I've ever known for the fins has been Jay "The Noodle Arm" Fiedler and the only RB's I've known have been Lamar Smith, Travis Minor, R Williams and Sammy Morris. The only coaches I've known has been Dave and Bates.

That's my story... what's yours?

well mine is funny i wanted to dload some posters and screen savers so i went to google and i saw finheave.co i clicked and i was excited from wat i saw

I honestly don't remember how I became a Fins fan. Just sorta happened when I was little. It is odd though since I live in Pennsylvania, my one brother is a Bills fan, my other brother is a Vikings fan and my dad sorta roots for the Panthers.

When i was 5, i played on a city football leauge. and my coach jus somehow picked the dolphins as our team name. We won the rec championship and i've liked the dolphins ever since. Now if he named our team the raiders or something like that. I wouldnt even be on here!

My mom was a finfan from when she was young, and raised me as a dolphin fan.

Dude, that's what I'm talking about. I want to make sure that my kids (don't have any yet) bleed aqua and orange. I swear I've already talked my fiance into painting our children's rooms dolphins colors and making sure that we attend at least one Dolphins game a season just to ensure that they grow up with good memories of the Dolphins.

Haha thats the best way man. Definitly got to take them to some games, that was a main reason I follow them so much now a days.

driving through the Orange Bowl when i was a little kid, and hearing all the great stories from my dad.. I never go a day without thinking, and reading about the Phins.....

I was 8 years old visiting my cousin who was a few years older. He was watching a game on TV and I asked him who was playing. He went ballistic (of course back then we didnt use the term "ballistic"). He started yelling at me..."dont you know who they are? They are the Miami Dolphins and they are the only team to ever go undefeated!"(Im paraphrasing here...after all, I was only 8)
Of course the game we were watching was the Superbowl that capped the undefeated season.
Been a fan ever since.

 If he had named your team "The Raiders" then you probably wouldnt have turned out smart enough to use a computer.

i was about 7 or 8 when I started liking sports, I always wondered why my dad watched boring football every Sunday. I asked him one day which teams he liked for various sports and the Dolphins were one of the teams. That sparked an interest that grew a hell of a lot! It's kind of funny, i live in Vermont, right in the middle of Patriots land and i grew up liking the Phins. I also know quite a bit of others who do also.

second grade. in the lunch line in school, my friend asked who i thought was gonna win the SB. i asked who was playing and he said the dolphins and redskins. i said hmmm, dolphins. well what do you know, they won 14-7...

been a fan ever since.

I chose them somewhat arbitrarily at some point during the playoffs that led up to their last Super Bowl appearance. That game broke my heart -- first, the cable went out where I lived (probably due to ice or something). That happened early in the game. By the time it came back, the game was lost. I think this all had something to do with one of my uncles who is also a Dolphins fan. I honestly don't remember much from back then, but I somehow ended up liking his favorite team and his favorite band.
