MERGED x 2: Cam Wake Hold-Out Thread

If they can get a high pick they need to trade him. We are rebuilding and his 8-10 sacks don't mean much to this team. Trade him to a team with a late 1 or early 2.

See being specific allows about what you disagree with allows us to discuss it. Linking an article to NFL.com as a response does not, especially an article that is factually incorrect (Cam Wake didn't have 16 sacks in 2010). And just so you know, Jeff Ireland (or any other GM) doesnt pull up PFF to see how much he should pay a player. Mario Williams and Julius Peppers have been pressuring QB's a lot longer than 2 years. Cam Wake aint getting 10 million a year after playing only 2 years. I'll bet on it.

No thats just the kind of idiotic posts I was talking about ealier...

A single digit is incorrect in a entire page concerning facts.....and you focus on the single digit to justify not believing it. Sure, thats reasonable. Ignoring how a player performed at a higher level than anyone else at his position because the individual writing the article made the mistake of pressing "6" when they meant "4" does sound like such a reasonable move for someone so articulate.

If Jeff Ireland stats dont match the stats of PFF....PFF's is probably right. I will agree that Wake probably wont get $10 million a year from Miami...that doesnt mean he doesnt deserve it, like you suggested because he supposedly only had a single good year.
Wake is consistently performing at a higher level than most others at his position and he will get paid higher than most others at his position.

And when you post moronic things dont get so upset at others for pointing them out.

I am hoping we give him a contract. He has shown some great skill and with someone opposite him i think he can only get better. He showed last year he can be a complete player but he needs to be going after the QB.

Even though it's pretty clear Wake can't afford to hold out, he doesn't deserve to be part of a leverage game.. He's proven he deserves a new contract and the FO should just get it done, you don't screw around with a guy who's caused no trouble and given you great production for the past few years.

And for the people saying trade him because of his age, you're actually creating 2 massive holes that was previously just one minor.. You can get by with an average pass rusher opposite from a freak like wake, sure it's definitley a need in this draft but you can get by spending possibly a 3rd round pick on someone to play opposite from him... but if you trade him? Then your talking about relying on 2 rookies, (one pretty much guaranteed being a 1st rounder) immediately replacing Wake's production. And then you've still got to address the other needs at qb and wide receiver.

Whats interesting about these conversation to me is the following: Player X signs their contract and he performs at a level higher than the contract is worth so they demand a raise.

Curious when the player under performs should the FO be allowed to lower the contract? Modify it based on performance?

The bold part would actually be true if it actually mattered this season.

I'm going to go with the unpopular option here and either trade him or show him the door.
He's what 32 years old? He has what 2-3 years in him at best? You don't pay a guy big money who is in his early 30s that isn't a Quarterback.

Pay Cam!!! If we were going to trade him this yr it should have been t o move up and get one of the better qbs.

we missed our window to trade cam... I mentioned a few years back after his breakout season, as did several other finheaven members that his trade value would never be higher... now we have a guy in the last year of his contract making peanuts, who won't garner a whole lot of interest from the league due to his age...

will he get some attention... sure I think he would... will we get the best trade value if we were to do such a trade? not in my opinion...

now we may as well give him a fair 3 year deal, and let the cards fall where they may..

I said this was going to happen. this is the time to extend or trade him. I wouldnt play for that mioney either based on that production. Now that being said are these not voluntrary workouts so at this point who cares but ireland needs to figure this one out soon. Its hard to figure how much we should pay him to be truthful. I would offer 3 years 27 million 20 mill guaranteed. Wake has been a good soldier up to now and at this point you cant blem him if he holds out
