MERGED x 2: Cam Wake Hold-Out Thread

No I get that and I dont think you are coming off as smug.

I think though his value is going to be around 10M a year.

So 5 year 50M sounds about right to me.

In the open Market i think he would get 11M - 12M a year so if we apply a hometown discount I think he would resign for around 10M a year

Jared Allen must be worth 25 million a year

He should have held out last year, back when he was 29 and could have commanded more. Being too humble with this front office will get your screwed over big time. He sets the tone for our entire defense and he's making less money than frigging Merling who does nothing for us.

Call me crazy but I'd rather have him hold out now and force the front office to get him a nice contract than wait until his contract is up when he's unhappy and tests the market.. when someones gonna give him a bigger paycheck than us

I dont agree he did the right thing last year to prove one season was not a fluke but now he has earned the extension

I think we should extend him and draft a pass rusher early on in the draft. It'd be nice to have a full frontal pass rush to start out with our new 4-3/3-4 defense....

A single digit is incorrect in a entire page concerning facts.....and you focus on the single digit to justify not believing it. Sure, thats reasonable. Ignoring how a player performed at a higher level than anyone else at his position because the individual writing the article made the mistake of pressing "6" when they meant "4" does sound like such a reasonable move for someone so articulate.

If Jeff Ireland stats dont match the stats of PFF....PFF's is probably right. I will agree that Wake probably wont get $10 million a year from Miami...that doesnt mean he doesnt deserve it, like you suggested because he supposedly only had a single good year.
Wake is consistently performing at a higher level than most others at his position and he will get paid higher than most others at his position.

And when you post moronic things dont get so upset at others for pointing them out.

Well the same guy who had a "typo" in his article also provided incorrect info about the PFF article to which you cling to so dearly. That same stat that you keep dropping to justify paying him $14 million a year? Well that stat is BS. So yea, when I see misleading and incorrect info, its best to do some fact checking before you start calling people morons. Cam Wake was actually rated 9th most productive pass rusher by PFF, you know, that website that knows how much every player is worth to each team, that website that you think trupms everyone opinion. Lookie here: Link

It's only April, but they need to really figure this out. If Cam Wake is not on the team next season, where will the pass rush come from? A rookie?

Wake reached the Pro Bowl in 2010 with 16 sacks, and last year he had an aggregate of 90 sacks, QB hits, QB pressures and holding penalties drawn, according to ProFootballFocus -- by far most in the NFL. (Chicago Bears defensive end Julius Peppers, who makes $14 million a season, was second in the NFL, with a total of 74 such plays).

Dont see how anything i linked was wrong. The list you posted was based on this formula:
Sacks + 0.75 (Hits + Hurries)/ Number of Pass Rushing Attempts * 100 = PRP

The link i posted said "he had ____ number of disruptive plays and the second most was by Julius Peppers". So you instead post a list concerning the how disruptive he was per number of snaps. And even on your chosen list, its somehow its a bad thing that he is 9th out of 75? Its a bad thing he is more disruptive per snap than Tamba Hali(roughly $12 million a year), Julius Peppers($14 million), and Charles Johnson($12 million)? He deserves far less than any of those players even though he performs better by your own measuring formula?

Ugh, ok then, way to prove your a articulate and highly intelligent individual. I find it hilarious that you get so offended by comments like that while you go around calling people "retards" and "idiots". Im also highly amused that you keep insisting that he doesnt deserve a high paying contract....then you post links that dispute your own argument.

And didnt say PFF trumps everyone...just Jeff Ireland.

ha ha...$650 k...i'm surprised his agent didn't hold him out last offseason to be honest...SEVERELY underpaid...open up that wallet mr ross...agents gonna want harrison like money i'm sure...

I personally think he should get paid but he hasnt earned harrison type money

i'm not sure what harrisons contract is for starters but i'm sure its significant but second whether he truly deserves it or not doesn't really matter...he's a VITAL part of this teams 3rd down defense and pass rush...hell i'd say critical at this stage and given his advanced age like harrison and that he projects to be a 10 sack guy on a year in and year out basis for probably the next 5 years health willing his agent is gonna look at that contract and try to mirror it...not sayin he'll get it cause i agree he probably hasn't quite earned it yet but i think that will be the contract they will look for in an initial demand...

and frankly miami doesn't have much choice here we haven't drafted an edge rusher worth a damn...wake goes this team will never get off the field on 3rd down he's as vital as any member on this roster right now...he won't get away but i wouldnt be surprised if he held out into training camp...

Wake is 30 yrs old and has only played in the NFL 3 yrs. I recall Paterno referring to him as an enigma while at Penn State. He was very talented, but didn't always show it on the field. That is HIS fault and the reason why it has taken him so long to be an impact player in the NFL. Thus HE is the reason why he has a short career and as a result, a reduced earning potential.
Realistically, with the new coaching staff and philisophy, I don't believe this team will be ready to compete with the elite teams for 1-2 more yrs (assuming Ireland drafts well and Philbin coaches the team up). At that point Wake will be 32 yrs old and on the downside.
I think they should try to trade him now. I think a 2nd and a 4th would be reasonable.
