Miami Dolphins consider QB change

Most likely the change would not happen until the bye. Well, then again you hate to fall 2 games below .500. I'd still say Tanny starts this week for one last time.

I know it hurts those who have hung their hopes on week 1 where Knowshon, but this is a step in the right direction. New QB to fall in love with next draft. Let's get it right once and for all.

Because Tannehill looks God awful and Moore has better accuracy with a far better deep ball and synergy with Mike Wallace.

I was at that game as well. Worst I've ever seen- I started to think about that game yesterday, although Tannehill wasn't that incompetent. The reality is that Tannehill sucks right now, and sucks bad.

Tannehill isn't even in the same stratosphere as Lucas. Lucas was beyond awful. That performance was so pathetic that I think you could put it down as the worst performance by a QB in Dolphins history. Perhaps only John Beck could compete for that distinction...

Moore is not a very accurate qb, he makes bad decisions at times and there are throws he simply cannot make... oh he thinks he can make them, but those are the ones that end up being picked off. Listen, I'm not fluffing tannehill here, but Matt Moore will not save our season.

Moore also has better awareness, management, and the players will be more behind him. The only areas he is behind Tannehill are overall athletic ability and wife fame. Moore will be fine, not spectacular. This team really should be able to crack the playoffs for a change with Moore this year, unless they wait until we are already buried. I doubt Philbin waits that long.

Guys, no need to argue about who we should start. We're not making the playoffs with neither one of them. This team needs more than just a QB

I recall this same debate regarding Fiedler and Ray Lucas more than a decade ago. We all truly believed Jay Fiedler was the limiting factor on the team and that big-armed Ray Lucas would lead us to the promised land...

I was at the stadium for Lucas' first start against the Bills. I recall the buzz of excitement and anticipation around the stadium before they took the field... 2 quarters, several turnovers and an abysmal performance later, we were all praying for Fiedler to return. The backup QB is always the most popular guy on the team.

While Moore has already proven to be more effective than Lucas, he is still a backup - and given enough time with a backup QB thrust into a starting role, the results eventually play themselves out to match up with that reality.

I'm just wondering why Moore is labeled a backup despite having better stats and record than Tannehill is labeled a starter? You could argue both are backups, but the only thing making an ineffective guy a starter is the fact that there is a team dumb enough to keep starting him.

I remember the same people whining about Moore with Henne and that turned out fine. Equating any situation with a backup QB is bad logic considering that there have been numerous times where the backup was better. That's like saying we should never draft a QB of the future because Henne turned out bad.

Well considering he has only won a starting job in the NFL once, and that lasted only a handful of games, I think it's safe to say he is the very definition of a backup QB. In fact, even Moore himself has accepted his fate as a backup QB - he hasn't sniffed a starting role anywhere in the NFL and signed a deal to be a BACKUP QB in Miami. The question is, how can anyone label him anything OTHER than a backup QB?

Matt Moore's interception rate is not far off from Tannehill's and this was playing in system's where the throws were much less QB friendly than most of Tannehill's. And in all honesty, the reason why I want Moore starting is that he can make throws that Tannehill can't make, and those that Tannehill can't make are holding back our offense. You are thinking in backwards terms of arm strength, which I think Pennington and Henne proved decisively means little in terms of effectiveness. Moore's arm is not as strong as Tannehill's but his velocity is good enough that his superior touch and anticipation means he can make more throws.

Good job of not defining how Tannehill is a starting QB other than reiterating what you already said about Moore. And you are right that backup QB's usually don't play like franchise QB's over a full career, but I remember guys like Tommy Maddox, Jake Delhomme, Mark Bulger, Kurt Warner, Alexander Wright, Kerry Collins, heck the list goes on and on of guys who were backups who came in and lead their team to playoff berths.

Bench Tannehill.

Get Trusnick off the field.

Throw the ball to Gibson and Matthews.

Bench Hartline.

Feed Miller the rock 30 times a game, then work the play action passes.

Bench Delmas.

Be positive that and hope that Pouncey, Jordan, Jones, make an impact when they return.

Throw the ball to Charles Clay and Gator.

Hope that Knowshon and Misi come back soon and go beast mode for the rest of the season....

And if all else fails, fire Philbin.

I no longer believe Tannehill is the answer, but I KNOW Moore isn't either, even if he manages to cobble together some wins and sneak a playoff appearance just to get curb stomped like every other lifelong backup QB that guided their team to a playoff appearance.

The last thing I want is Matt fricken Moore saving Clueless Joe's ass to flounder through yet another season of his inept coaching next year.
