Miami Dolphins Won't Sign Grimes Long-Term...why ???

So....

OP title is WAAAAAAAAAAY mis-leading. Article THINKS Dolphins don't want to sign Grimes long term.

Clearly Grimes is a top target and should be locked up on a 2-3 year deal around $5/year.

Then again....it is a BR article. :ponder:

Hard to believe anything the sports media speculates on nowadays....especially Bleacher Report.

$5 mil per year.. good luck

if they want to get younger verner and shields are that...but are they legit #1 corners...i don't know...i do know they play well...i also know they gonna be pricey

BR article with Armando commenting supposedly. I didn't listen but anything BR or Armando have to say is not worth the time. More speculation by Armando to spin the views as negatively as he can because he knows that sells. Just look around the board...what's being posted? What's being talked about more? Negative, negative, negative.

A Deangelo Hall deal works for me although I prefer 3 years.

It's really about all about the guaranteed money. So $5 a year is not that far fetched. Grimes would probably take a big bonus to reduce cap hits.

At least thats how I think it works? (3 year $15 mill, $10 sign bonus)

Someone will offer him at least $6 mil a year for 3 years. If he hits the market he's gone.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I tend to think the vets go after the guaranteed money rather than incentive based contracts.

Sure Grimes might get 3/$6 from another team but how much is guaranteed?

Dolphins come out at 3/$5 with $10 bonus might be enought to close the deal. In football terms sure, bump it up to $6 if Grimes want's to nickel and dime (no pun intended).

hoepfull it's us...he's worth that all day...i bet he's thinking higher than that...deangelo hall blows...grimes wipes the floor with him...they should not be in the same ball park...grimes age and injury thing though is gonna definitely play into it i'd say...if we try and low ball he's gone

miami can't afford to roll out there with unproven starting corners in will davis and jamar taylor...they better be smart about this

If they franchise him it's 11 million plus. He's probably going to get 8 to 9 per year average either here or someplace else. Probowl corners don't come cheap.

I have a hard time believing $5 million per will come close to retaining Grimes
