I know quite a while ago his wife was harping about NOT wanting a one year deal. Grimes and Keller already got their show-me deals, that's over with. Keller gambled and now he's hurt. Grimes wants a real contract. And frankly, he deserves one. He was uber-motivated before, and feeling positive about his team and the city, and I'd hate to have a less motivated, disgruntled player on our hands.
Clearly, without Grimes, we wouldn't have even had 8 wins.

Bleacher Report sure knows how to publish turds.
Grimes was great this year and it would suck to lose him, but this is a guy whose production would be declining in the next few years even if he were only playing baseball. We have to be careful that we aren't latching ourselves to contracts that only make sense in the short term when our current lack of success doesn't merit ignoring the longterm.

if they want to get younger verner and shields are that...but are they legit #1 corners...i don't know...i do know they play well...i also know they gonna be pricey
Grimes rated the #2 corner last year. Kinda hard to upgrade from that. Pay the man.
