Miami increased offer to Ronnie.......

"two sources with knowledge of the contract talks said the deal is not commensurate with previous No. 2 overall selections."

this statment puts the blame on the fins organization, not on Brown.

we only upped the offer by .5 mil making the offer 19.5 mil, unless Edwards signs and gets less money then that then there is no way Brown will sign for that much... while I hate the fact that Brown won't sign yet you still have to admit that his agent is doing good, he must make sure that his client makes more then Edwards who was picked behind Brown. look for Brown to be signed after Edwards is signed with the Browns

Yes but at the same time Edwards and his agent are sitting back to see what Ronnie gets.

With Smith and Cadiliac already signed. there should be no reason Ronnie, Braylon, and Cedric should still be sitting around.

Does it worry anyone else we can't get a Back-up we took at #1 signed and we already have a pre-season game done. We need him in camp or we have no chance to run the ball, Ricky made Mare look like a MLB. I mean Ricky will have to hit the weights to catch up himself and won't play to week 5 anyways, and now we have our #1 pick holding out and not at practices????? I am alittle worried about this..all this equals an abismal start!

What this Probie Agent needs to learn is that teams will avoid certain players based on their agent. Even telling players that if people are their agents they won't sign them. A great example are the Poston's. Winslow Jr. was told not to hire them, that nobody wanted to work with them, and he slipped in the draft. Then they got him a crappy contract with little guarantees.

So Mr France a $500,000 increase is a really good sign that the Dolphins probably won't jump up to $22 mil. Take your base and get some incentives in there that are backloaded so if he's good, the dolphins will renegotiate in 3 years.

he's not a back-up and it was the first game of the whole pre-season (in America)

miami better not increase the amount too much...smh

would anyone object if could stuff these agents in a space shuttle and ship them to the moon.

i think this situation is pissing off the browns and bears alike. the longer this drags on the worse it is for us.:horsey:

$19 to $19.5 million. THERE's progress.
Doc, do you think ronnie's camp is still asking for 22? if that is the case, then the longer they lowball, the more likely it is that the ronnie camp will accept 20 millon.

Quite frankly, I don't understand why the Dolphins just don't pay him what he "deserves" given his spot in the draft. Basically, there's nothing they can do about it - that's just the way it goes when you get a pick like this. The Dolphins are just not used to it, that's all.

I don't blame France at all for holding the line. Yes, it is overpaying on the Dolphins part, but that's the unwritten rules of drafting #2. What happens now if Braylon Edwards signs for - say $21? Then, France and Brown hold all the leverage!

Whether it's right or wrong, the Dolphins are being cheap here. They should just pay up and hope for the best. They really have no other choice!

Why are you pretending to be a Dolphins fan while making pessimistic posts?

Maybe if we start fining RB $5,000/day for each day he is not in camp he will get the picture. :yell:

I dont think he is scared so much as the market is out of whack. It happened last year because of Gallery getting 18m as #2 pick and Fitz getting 19m+ as #3. The problem is that Zona overpaid to get fitz signed and paid him like a #1 overall pick in relation to the 2003 rookies. It threw everything out of order for this year; thats why so many top 10 picks are having trouble getting signed.

The other part of that which you started to lead to is that Brown is his biggest/most noteable client. If he doesnt get a big enough bonus for ronnie he wont be able to build a career off him.

Todd France represents Takeo Spikes and Priest Holmes. I don't think Ronnie is his highest profiled client.

You can't fine a player that isn't under contract.

I sure hope some of you that are criticizing Ronnie Brown for trying to get all that he can never attempt to make more money than you are currently making in your life. And when your boss gives your coworkers 15% raises, I want you to gladly accept a raise of only 5%.

Wouldn't it be hard legally to fine Ronnie for not showing up to camp when he doesnt have a contract with us :rofl3:.

I think the fins are playing it smart here. Just because the system is 'outta whack' doesnt mean the dolphins have to be that way. We have a decent backfield w/o Brown. Besides if the OLine doesn't block any better would could have Emmit back there and it wouldnt matter. Hell Lamar Smith ran his *** off for the phins where is he now? It was the OLine. And as of the first preseason game we still need an OLine. I dont want the fins to put the future, cap wise, in jeopardy just for this guy. I WANT RB. I DO. So don't take it that way.

We are talking about guarenteed money not overall pay.

And it would be workers in your field, not coworkers, get a 15% raise and you get a 5% raise with stipulations based on performance for the other 10%.
