Miami interested in RJ McQuarters

Decent size, great speed, sure tackler, makes some plays, also great cover for Welker in the return game. Would be a good pickup in my opinion

I find it hard to believe this guy is any good. He has been cut from 2 teams now. Not from teams with lots of good cornerbacks

I'll just echo what others said.

I'd love to get him for the right price. We won't pay a huge amount for RW.

...also, let's say we sign him. Does anyone else think that with Mel Phillips and Nick Saban being two of the best defensive backs coaches in football, they could get RW to reach his FULL potential?

I know he's been pretty good, but he was a first round pick, and he should have put up bigger numbers than what he has, given his physical abilities.

If he can be had on the cheap then why not. As an aside I'm sure glad we didn't give up that rumored seventh round pick for him.

Why was he cut from SF and then Chi? Were they salary cap moves?

i dont know what you all see in McQ, i watch him play darn near every week being from illinois. i disagree w/ the other IL guy in here who thinks he is a playmaker. he would be OUR poor man's T buck when he was good for us. he makes plays from time to time but takes a lot of risks and loses more than T buck did. he isnt as fast as some of you are saying he is, he is all around a decent player in every aspect... and jerry ahzumah is a better returner then RW was for the bears. i think he has poor coverage, the only way i like him is if he is cheap, and he is a nickel/dime back or maybe FS if he beats out tillman or bell.

Thank you.

I don't get the interest either, other than for the fact that EVERY player released, due to be released, rumored to be released, starting his first year of middle school, etc. seems to generate at least a couple of threads on this board.

Anyone who has nine interceptions in five years would seem to be a yawner, no?

OK, for the benefit of those who only skim the posts: that's

NINE (9) interceptions in FIVE (5) years.

Psssst...Jamar Fletcher comes to mind...

Yeah, but he's had 8 (eight) in the same four (4) last years as Sam Madison. :escape:

But did he share a backfield with players like Surtain and a group of savvy safeties (discounting Freeman, of course) that were all eagerly competing for balls?

He can play both corner or safety correct? So we would fill two needs instantly. I say do it, so long as it's not a break the bank type of deal.

I still say we need another DT and we should look hard at LJ shelton.
to the best of my knowledge rwm has 0 experiece at safety

I wouldn't say he had a Surtain opposite him, but the Bears' secondary has been VERY solid the last few years and were one of the biggest reasons for their playoff run a few years back.

his getting cut from chi was a cap move. Im not sure about this but I think Sf traded him to chi and not cut him. Could be wrong.

How good is he at FS? Thats where I think he will be used if we sign him and since you have seen alot of him I was hoping you would know. I know he is fast (and good recovery speed) which means he would have good range at FS... which is something Saban really likes out of his safteys...
