Miami to interview George Paton of the Vikings for GM job

Now I don't know who we are going to end up hiring none of us do. However I have said time and time again in regards to firing Irish "be careful what you wish for, you just might get it". He had his warts and I would of loved to of seen him upgraded but there are far worse out there.

No, it's becoming quite clear that we should have cleaned house. Very clear.

As far as worse? I see little difference between a perennial 7-9/8-8 team and a perennial 5-11/6-10 team other than which draft picks they blow. To me, worst case scenario is we make a lateral movement, so those who were happy with Ireland should continue to be happy.

Paton was almost hired last year to be the Rams GM..but he decided to stay in Minnesota. Why do people start wailing about someone as a GM candidate when they know absolutely nothing about him?

The Rams still stink, I wouldn't look at them as if they are a model franchise. And sorry, I don't want anyone associated with Spielman. For my money, he was the worst Dolphins GM in recent history. And no, he hasn't improved much in Minnesota. Still wasting time on garbage QBs and getting taken in trades. If he didn't have Adrian Peterson, a gift that fell in his lap, the Vikings would be catastrophically bad.

Because they know absolutely nothing about him.

When did all the candidates we interviewed for the GM job reject us that there is so much doom and gloom about this franchise from fans? They didn't, all that has happened here is that Miami has added another name to the mix. Doesn't mean Paton is getting the job, just means he is another candidate they are talking to.

Seriously, it seems that Miami fans base their view on how well the search is going on who is the most recent person to interview. It was going great yesterday when they interviewed Xanders, now people are going all doom and gloom saying things like "no one wants the job" and "we should have cleaned house" because Paton is being brought in. Relax people, guys like Xanders, Farmer etc. are still very much in the mix and probably more of a favorite then Paton ever will be.

I assumed you meant the upgrades but I am referring to the last minute comment. The NFL indicated they would not seriously consider Miami any longer without upgrades so Ross contracted a company to design the upgrades. Once completed he took his plan forward and the rest is history.

That was right after the last superbowl. He tried to push a stadium bill through that needed actual change to legislation. He gave his push very little time to pass and since it was not on already on agenda they had to even agree to do a vote which they didn't do. Just another fail on his part

I know he has worked under Spielman for more than a decade. That is all I need to know

Ah..I see. So..if a companies CEO is bad..does that mean all their employees are? Glad you aren't making the decisions.

The only criticism I have of Ross with the stadium is not trying to get funding in Broward or Palm for a new stadium. I'm thankful the upgrades are not being done because that stadium sucks.

OMG!! It has come to this???? No one wants to work in Miami!!! We look like inept fools!!!!!

That's how some will spin this. SMH.

Are you totally dismissing the possibility that this may be the case? I'm not saying it is, but your post seems to indicate that you feel it is so outside the realm of what's possible that it should be mocked.

Not a very good analogy, but we can run with it. In this case, he's not just some random employee, he's more like the COO who has followed him from bad job to bad job. So, yes, I feel comfortable with having a negative view of him.

Firing Ireland was the right thing to do no matter how good a job our next GM does. You don't hang on to mediocrity because you fear letting go will result in failure. You let go of mediocrity and strive for excellence and you endure the future bumps in the road that take you there.
