Mock draft - Trades and evaluations (took a lot of time :)

I like getting Matthews at pick 8. Crazy how a team drafts David Carr when he has played in the nfl all those years lol. I hope they meant Derek Carr

If you're in the address-RT-by-all-means mode, I think this is the safest option. I wouldn't go this route, but I'd get it. I'd rather trade up for Matthews than draft Martin at 19.

Matthews at 8 is good value. I think last year he would have went in top 3 based on his last year. I don't advocate moving up at all costs but would prefer that to who we traded up for last year.

Totally agree. JM before draft was listed in top 2 on all big boards. IMO grabbing him at 8 is excellent value and can take over from BA in a couple of years and is cover if BA goes down with injury.

Thanks OP, really enjoyed reading that and certainly a lot of logic in it. I hope we don't trade up and if we didn't it wouldn't surprise me if we went for Bitonio or XSF if the rest plays out as above.

I have no problem trading up for an OT. We definitely need one just make sure you get it right.

I think in most drafts you have a run on tackles, and with less off season time most teams are struggling on the oline. As a result it will be very easy to second guess Hickey no matter what he does, but if he trades up to get a tackle getting decent value I don't think I could complain although it isn't my preference.

Better than Joeckel or Fisher. With Lane Johnson, it's just a question of upside vs polish.

It would take our 1st, 2nd, and 5th at the very minimum to move up to #9 overall. I seriously doubt that happens.

Being that Hickey is recently on record as saying he would rather have more overall picks than less picks at a higher value in this draft, I'm going to guess we aren't trading up to #9.

And everything else he said will happen also

I just cant stomach trading up for a RT considering we have so many other needs. Im ok taking a RT rd1 if a good one is available, but we just handed a ton load of money to Albert, why trade up for a RT?????

People are ok trading up for a 3-4 linebacker that was our 4th de off the bench last year but for god sakes don't draft a starting rt.
