Mort and Adam: Philbin Wanted to Cut Incognito

I've been blaming Philbin for the Marshall trade and the terrible Vontae Davis trade but this Incognito news tells me he doesn't have that much say over personnel at all. Maybe those trades were 100% Ireland making work for himself.

After Philbin had to bench Incognito for taking a stupid personal foul penalty last season I was sure he would be cut in the offseason, then you look at all of the attempted moves we made to address the o-line and its clear that was the plan. Ireland ****ed him with the o-line. Ireland ****ed him with the WR position last season. Ireland ****ed him with the Vontea Davis trade. Now we need at least 4 new starters on the o-line, even if we finish 10-6 there is no god damned way Ireland should be allowed back to "fix" that mess.

I know we have been getting after each other lately. I am not being an ass when I ask you this. Doesn't the "Mort and Adam" segment show that Joe was behind the jettisoning of Marshall and Davis? Bad attitudes and not committed. Incognito makes an inappropriate action at a team function and Joe wants him out. Marshall is a me guy and Davis seems mentally checked out...Joe does not want to work with troubled albeit talented players.

Not following you on this one.

hayden, you do realize there is four more games to be played.

fools rush in.

You do realize if he told his OC to run the ball at the end of the Buffalo game or got his team to close the Pats or Panthers game or had his team ready to beat an inferior Bucs team and he got any of these wins he would be in the driver's seat for the wild card? Any of these games would have done the trick. Win two and he could be in the discussion for the AFC East.

He has not had a good year.

Agreed. Regardless of where we are now, he has not had a good year. It will be good to see how he closes these last four games out.

We said it was about finishing in games...now he has to on the schedule.

The Colts got 2 full seasons from a good CB paying him an average of $1.7 million a year. Where is our pay off from that trade? Not only did we get nothing of value out of it 2 years later but we were forced to pay guys like Richard Marshall and Dimitri Patterson $5 mill a year to make up for the hole at CB.

If he can't get rid of an average at best guard how much say can he really have in getting rid of 2 of our best players. We've also heard that Fisher wouldn't work under Ireland due to a lack of control over personnel. Maybe Philbin has control, maybe he wanted those guys gone but we'll never know for sure. Philbin doesn't seem like the micromanager type to me, I think he trusts his coordinators and lets them do their jobs as they see fit. If I had to guess I think he would let Ireland be the GM to the full extent of the word, for better or for worse (not that he even has that power).

Sorry.. it may be a bad deal for Philbin, but I don't like him. Just me. He's just not a leader of men to me.

No playoffs? Clean house.

Rex is a very good coach. He has no QB. In fact, Joe should have been bashing Rex around, but could not capitalize. Rex has no chance from what has been given to him by the GM.

I don't feel bad for him. It is what it is.

Why does Rex get to use the bad GM excuse but not Philbin? I'm pretty sure you would agree we would be a better team with Brandon Albert at LT, hell even if we would have just signed McKinnie in the offseason we probably would have won at least one extra game.

Plus Rex's problems at QB were partially his own doing, what kind of fool puts his starting QB back in the game for the 4th quarter to play against the scrubs trying to make a name for themselves?

Roy, I got news for ya brother....Our DB's are way better this year.

I for one am glad Vontae is gone. He left alot to be desired and was always good for giving up at least one huge bomb every week. In hindsight trading Davis for Jamar Taylor was a horrible move to date because Taylor thus far has been somewhat of a bust, you still take Vontae for a second all day long.

Also Davis cant hold Grimes jock strap at all and I'm not even so sure that Davis is better than Carrol.

And hayden, you lost your marbles with the Rex Ryan is a good HC crap. You say Joe Philbin sucks.

Joe Philbin is 4-1 vs. REx and about to be 5-1. The one loss was in overtime thanks to our kicker who resides in Buffalo now.

They broke some franchise records for worst CB play last season so that isn't saying much. Would still rather have Davis over Carroll.

One thing is for certain Rex did not run cirlces around Philbin (even though his QB play was beyond horrible) nor did his defense out scheme our offense either, the way that I saw it. I do not think McCoy did either, as best is was a push IMO.
