IF they won the rest of their games that would be a great improvement. At the same time, if they keep losing leads or losing to terrible QB's, that shows bad regression. The team stats are all lower than last year, yet he was given more talent.

You can't deny that we've added more talent on offense, and overall there's minimal difference.

Keep in mind, this is year 2 for the new scheme/direction. We're supposed to have an up-tempo offense, and fast passing game. The O line wasn't even supposed to be that great because we'd be getting the ball out fast. It's not materialized.

Actually if the Dolphins were scoring the same number of points per game on offense they did last year (18 as opposed to 22.2), based on the correlation between points scored on offense and winning percentage this year (0.68), they most likely would have won somewhere between 3 and 4 games this year, instead of five. The difference in their offensive point scoring has been good for about 1.5 more wins on the season so far. Extrapolated to a full season, without the improvement they've shown this year in points scored, they would most likely finish the year 5-11.

IMPROVEMENT from last year. The team has more talent and is not playing as well as last year.

We had a better o-line last year; we had a better backfield last year; we had better linebackers last year. The d-line is about the same. An improvement at TE never materialized due to injury. Thigpen sucks. Other than an improvement at WR and adding Grimes, how are we better?

I suspect that Marino will be hired as the Director of Football Ops.

Actually there Points Per Drive is up .16 this season. The defense is giving up .08 more this year

Hayden, I respect your opinion on this site but if we can give Thill a break with all the injuries on offense we have to give the same break for Philbin. Let's face it an Oline that he was given by Ireland that sucks and doesn't match his system, the loss of Keller(it really looked like he and Thill were on the same page), the loss of Gibson are big losses. I really think Joe has had a lot of challenges this year that he didn't bring on himself. I'm starting to think he deserves one more year.

I do not think he rallies the team nor do I think he gives an intellectual advantage. I am not sure what is so special about him that he is so valuable to bring back. I think he will, but it is a mistake.

Well all teams have injuries but can't help to think what this offense could have been with Gibson and Keller healthy, or say just Keller. This could have increased the scoring per game just enough to pull out a couple of games. I still question the offensive play calling at times though.
