Most catches for more yards...

Would you bet money on Thompson going at least 4 catches for 75?

i agree w/muck. you can't compare receivers of this era to those of that era. andre reed? modern players may as well be a flag football players in comparison to the old guys. they had to WORK for their catches.

(i wanted to quote two posters in here but wasn't skilled enough)

as for DT, i'm guessing the 75 yards are high, but it's possible. i think he's gonna have a good year. do you have other options at WR for the first week? i'd wait and let him show it. (i have him on my fantasy team's bench)

Paul Warfield 1964-1977
Add Rice, Brown, Carter, Monk and you have the 21 receivers in history better than Reed. Reed is a top twenty-five guy, but towards the bottom. Warfield is definitely toward the top of the list. Actually Reed was probably better than Swann.

anybody know when the rules for DB's changed? was that 1978 or 1979? somewhere close, i know...

As for the question on the thread, I sense Thompson will end up closer to 50 yards in this game. I sense will run a lot, and likely McMichael will end up as the top yardage reciever in the game.

As for CW's lame listing of recievers, two of the players he mentioned(Joiner and Lofton) were each a teamate with a much better reciever, John Jefferson.
In the time period between Warfield ritirement in 1976 and Rice's arrival in 1985 I feel Jefferson was the best wide reciever during that time period. Jefferson came out of Arizona St. and immediately became the great deep threat for Dan Fouts in the Air Coryell offense. Unfortunately Jefferson got into major contracts disputes with the cheap owner Gene Klien, had numerous holdouts and eventually was shipped to Green Bay. He was better than Lofton there but suffered a neck injury and had to retire prematurely.
