We're in a position at BPA, let the season play out. Charlie Whitehurst is not top 10 pick, and we will not have a top 10 pick. All Fans that think we will are not fans.
thats rubbish... it's called realism.

as for whitehurst... we'll see. He'll be the second or third best QB in the draft... a good senior year and he's going to go high. his stock has the potential to soar.

Laron Landry from L.S.U.?

Frayser,
I completely agree with you on this one. I've read in quite a few publications that he might be the best safety to come out of the college ranks in the last two decades. I'm not saying he is, but that's what I've read. In regards to QB I just have this gut feeling that who ever take Leinhart is going to be dissappointed. I don't know why I have this feeling, but if we took a QB I would like it to be Jacobs, Hackney, or the kid from Fresno State. Who knows maybe with Washintons situation we end up with Ramsey seeing Gibbs seems hell bent on replacing him with his own guy.

Watch out for Chad Greenway. The guy can play both moving forward from the LB position to moving backward in coverage. The 3/4 is about linebackers, I can easily see Saban pulling the trigger on a special LB like Greenway. He will command the attention of any offense we go against.

Chad Greenway, OLB, Iowa.

i'm from iowa and have been fortunate enough to watch roth as well as greenway all through thier college careers...i love the following roth already has, and believe me, you will know the name chad greenway, by the 06 draft.

I believe we will go DEFENSE with the first pick to continue to infuse youth on an aging defense. After a long look at the defensive lineman available...I think that we will take the best SAFETY in the draft.

I think definetly QB or S. I think if there is a player like Sean Taylor or Ed Reed available in our spot, and he has value, I would like to see us pick that player. Miami hasn't had a really good S in a long time (I can't even remember one, except maybe Brock Marion, but he wasn't that special). I also think the Leinart could fall, and that would leave us open for that pick. Honestly, there isn't that many teams anymore that need a young QB to develope for the future.

Teams set a QB for the next few years:

AFC East: All but Miami
AFC North: All but the Browns
AFC South: All but Tenn maybe
AFC West: All but the Raiders
NFC East: All of them
NFC North: All but maybe Detroit if Harrington falls flat, and Chicago
NFC South: All but maybe NO
NFC West: All but Arizona

That leaves a max of 8 teams willing to take a QB.

I really don't think you can say Dallas is set at QB. In fact, I would say they are very shaky. IMO really not much better off than Miami, if at all.

The only QB that is worth a 1st rounder at this point is Leinart, and we probably won't be in position to take him. I'm fairly confident we're going to take a left tackle.
Omar Jacobs > Matt Leinart

I don't know about that......maybe so, maybe not...

Look how Alex Smith rocketed up the draft boards in the final 2 months before the draft.....

A lot can happen....

Even tho I think it'd be wiser to use our #1 on something OTHER than LB, it WOULD be sweet to have AJ Hawk & Matt Roth (both from Iowa) on the Fins D.

I am guessing that we will take a tackle in the first round. Even if Carey beats out McIntosh for the LT spot, I think we will try to shore up the OL for years to come.

I think we get one of 3 players Omar Jacobs, Laron Landry or Chad Greenway

I could see that all Leinart has done is win the heisman lead his team to 2 national championships. Jacobs is a project, he's got alot of potential but his throwing motion needs to be worked on. Maybe 3-4 years into their NFL careers he'll be better, but honestly Leinart would've been taken 1st this year, and i'm guessing he'll go #1 next year. The best 2 prospects for last years draft did not even come out in Fergusan and Leinart. I think a bidding war will happen for Leinart's services and I don't think Saban will be willing to give up enough to get him. The player who I believe will have an Alex Smith like jump is Tyler Palko from Wanny's Pitt, if Dave doesn't screw him up I think he'll be considered one of the best Qb prospects.
