I wouldn't worry about it, OP, Walter Football is one of those sites you click on to read, but take it with a grain of salt. There are dozens like it. I do feel JJ was a reach, but if he turns out to be a great player and stays on the team instead of getting released after his first contract, then it will have been worth it. You have to balance out sites like Walter Football with expert info from respected sources, like Narwaki. Or Gil Brandt even though he's old. Or Russ Lande and Dan Shonka. Lance Zierlein is also a pretty good source when it comes to O line evaluation. JJ did make it on top 50 boards. That fact, with the reality that there was a run on O linemen meant that Hickey was playing it safe. Could he have traded down and still gotten James? Probably. But the Dolphins seemed so stuck on James, so fixated, that they didn't want to risk it. They didn't value Moses or Cyrus or anybody else as much. JJ was what they wanted - a 4 year RT, an excellent pass protector with good measurables, very coachable, with high character. He's a Philbin player.
Bottom line is this is their vision, we have to ride with it. This is going to be a pass-first team. When they picked JJ, I said in the live thread that since their goal is to help Tannehill, and JJ is such a good pass protector, then they need to go out and get a WR or TE in the second round, and they did.
