my pregame report Bears vs. Dolphins

I look for there to be at least one pick6. Not gonna say which team though.

Hey Dok, I must say that's probably the best thing you've ever written on this board...I liked it, good job.

When will people realize, Boston didn't get caught for normal steriod use, What Boston used was LEGAL in the U.S. but illegal in the NFL. Granted, it's still wrong but it's not a typical steriod case in the NFL. Look at this paragraph from the link.

"Defensive end Julius Peppers of Carolina, safety Lee Flowers of Denver and wide receiver David Boston of Miami were among players suspended over the last two years for violation of the NFL policy concerning steroids and "related substances."

It says suspended over the policy and "related substances", what Boston took falls in the category of "related substances".

"The issue in football is detecting substances, not adding to the list of those that are disallowed. Under the NFL's steroid policy, substances need not be specifically named; even newly-discovered steroids are banned by a catch- all phrase prohibiting "related substances."

Anybody remember when Peppers was suspended? I'm drawing a blank. I'm guessing he too fell into the "related substances" category.

Not so bad. Break it up a bit for ease of reading, but not bad.

That was awful. I hope that was for fun and you arent considering a career in journalism.

Wasn't Seau injured at the start of camp?

Seau has been injured the whole camp thus far and will not play tonight, he injuried his calf or quad prior to TC and it hasn't heal enough for him to go tonight.

Nice effort. I can see your enthusiasm. Wouldn't quit the day job though. Some of the content is dubious.

Lol!!!

<That was awful. I hope that was for fun and you arent considering a career in journalism.>

I'm sorry to the original poster, but whoever posted that got it dead on!! You EXPECT a player in a preseason game to have a couple of interceptions? Players PROBABLE of INJURY?!! What?! Boston is "coming back" from steroid abuse?! Thomas and Seau will have an "occasional" interception? What does that even mean. And why would one look for Tebucky Jones and Travis Daniels in the second half, I am very confused. Finally guys remember, tonight in the Hall of Fame Game, Channing Crowder makes his MARK ON THE NFL. Dude, I really hope you are under the age of 13 because that seemed like one of those pretend newspaper articles we would be assigned to write in 3rd grade. If you are under 13, I am really sorry. I completely understand and I am not trying to be offensive. If you aren;t......well.....then I'm just really sorry.

Hands down, these are two rebuilding teams.

We should know the following after tonights game.

1) How well these QBs have adjusted to the new Offensive Schemes.
A) Additionally, we should be able to see if A.J. has gotten rid of his happy feet...and if he's gotten over his "receiver-lock-syndrome". If he has shaken lose of these bad habits, then this is a huge plus to our value in terms of offensive potential.
B) It will also answer the question mark that is Gus Frerotte. Is he starter worthy? His stats for Philly were decent, but can he lead a team? How strong is his arm in comparison to A.J. We've all read the reports, but there is just something about seeing a QB in the huddle that tells you more than a computer screen can.

**Noteworthy--We must understand that Chicago will probably not play a lot of defensive starters (just as we shouldn't)...so we can't think our QBs are as good as they look tonight. That being said, if they light up the D as any good QB should, then that still means great things for us.

2) We should see a lot of RW and Gordon, which means we'll see how our O-line communicates and implements. We all know that these backs are good, with RW being great as we remember him, but with a new O line and O line coach, we should be able to see how they pick up blocks and doubles. We know these backs can find holes, no doubt, but can they do it when they are the isolated offensive threat? These teams will be gearing up for our run, with the occasional chambers/mcmichael threat, so we must be efficient and disciplined in this area.

I think the dolphins defensively manhandle my old Flordia QB, Grossman, by taking away his length of time in the pocket. I've seen him on the roll and he's deadly ( I mean deadly in college), but he's no runner. He was good before his injury last year. Jones was allowed to run all over the opposing defenses, but when grossman went down...so did Jones' production. So we know they can put up some numbers...I'm seeing some Muhammed(sp) connections, but we should do well with stopping the run...JUST AS LONG AS WE DON'T GET TOO OVERAGGRESSIVE!!! This is going to be key to us becoming the "wall" we've been known for. Taylor and Thomas know this, but with the addition of Seau, we got crazy last year a couple times and the other teams blew it open. We need to be controlled and patient. I've watched crowder and roth a lot in college...a lot...and they both have great instincts, but they can be a tad overzealous...which means that a screen pass or a Play action can eat us up in they bite too hard. Hopefully the vets will keep them cool and calm. I'm stoked to see our defensive LBs and Line this year. They are damn good. Crowder was a steal and roth is a monster. Add that to a Taylor and Thomas and it's scary in there. Hopefully injuries don't happen. Moving on...

3) Last and final thing, will be our deep threat. I know we have outstanding WRs this year...we do...but some of their reputation is based on paper results. Boston and Booker have yet to produce on the field for the Dolphins. Chambers has been the best I've ever seen at times. Seriously. That's not homerism, that's me jogging the memory back to some of the miraculous catches he's made, i.e. the one handed grab at the back of the endzone as he's being hit out and still managing to grab his two feet in. That was one of Fiedler's passes that Chambers elevated the status of. But on the other hand, against shut down corners, ie pats, broncos, jets...he's been out of the game. It's either focus or lack of a QB talent to put the ball where it needs to be, but in my mind, he could become more of a Go-to if he laid it out on every play. So with that, we need to show that A) our receivers are capable of beating people deep and B)we need to be able to get the ball to a receiver that breaks it open and C) our WRs need to prove that they have the "it" factor to grab it from the DBs...not to wait on the pass or allow it to be defended...be a gamebreaker like we know you are.

These are the question marks that I hope will be answered on tonights game. I know there are numerous others, such as our secondary effectiveness, Mare's health, Browns contract, new Offense/defense coordinators and schemes...but I don't think one game...especially against chicago...will help to answer these. Thanks for listening guys.

Hey Salamar and PhinfanBO1...

Here's some advice. I don't have many posts, but I've been on here for over a year...I've read zillions of threads. A little FYI...people here like to hear different point of views, they like conversation starters, they like to stretch the imagination and see what you think...what they don't like are for punks to come on with less than a hundred posts and a total of 10 minutes of membership to come and bash thread starters because you disagree (i expect a little more from Phinfan...been a member since 2002). That kind of crap was ok in elementary school, but here in the grown up world we dish out respect and camaraderie. Personally, I love seeing the membership of this site grow, but not at the expense of class. I'll look forward to more productive comments in the future. Thanks a ton.

ps--Dok, I for one liked the post...didn't agree to it all, but when do people ever agree on everything. Keep it up.

...and that was completely unecessary.

I hope you aren't considering a career in diplomacy, customer service, or anything else where you actually speak to other people.

First of all buddy, I was one of the original posters on FinHeaven and beyond that I used to write for this site when it first started out so don't talk to me about expanding the site or improving it because anyone who's been for as long as I have knows that I did my part and I now like to just read and occasionally throw out some stuff. Second of all, I was trying to make that response in a humurous way, and I even offered an apology if the guy is significantly younger than a lot of us which I am near positive he is. Stay out of my sh*t, because you don't know me. Thank you.
