My thoughts after tonight

This makes zero sense.

Henne didn't need more "Air" on his pass to Gates. The safety was closing in and he put right where it needed to be, Gates dropped it.

That was one of Henne's most outstanding deep passes since Ginny and the Jets... ain't no valid way it should be discredited, whatever anyone's predetermined agenda.

Ii
Both Murtha and Columbo got beat on the first sack, with Henne first being hit after his 2nd drop back step. That's all on the o-line. The screen to Bush was not a bullet at all. It was thrown softly, and went right through Bush's hands. There is no excuse from Bush at all on that one. And Bess was triple covered on the endzone play. It was Hartline that was open in the endzone. But, he came open late, after Henne had been flushed from the pocket by the pass rush. It is pretty crazy to be critical of Henne on a night when he was 10 for 13, all 3 incompletions should have been caught. And how about the second play of the game? On a 2nd and long, with a pass rush right on him, he threw a perfect touch pass to Fasano for 22 yards, dropped over the LB and in front of the safeties.

You mention Pouncey's meanness, but fail to mention that he got totally whipped by Frank Okam on two short yardage running plays.

And you said Odrick didn't show anything? He had a very good game, especially with his pass rush.

Well to Pounceys defense Okam is about 370.

Pouncey was the only O-lineman to play worth a damn last night. We need O'Hara now. He can easily play G.

No, its very good.. Ten points in 3 quarters is not good. Those stats coulda been better. The two bad sacks arent seen in that stat. At the very minimum, it coulds been 11 of 14 for 190 and 2 TD's... 2 td's

You can also thank Marshall for that. If he doesn't fumble we go up another 7 possibly and they don't score. 14 point swing.

We all know the third preseason game is an indicator of what we should most closely expect for regular season performace. We should be in agreement that our starting offense still sucks. Playing well into the 3rd Q, we were only able to manage a measly 10 points.

Here are my thoughts...

*Aside from a fairly decent performance from Chad, we are mediocre on offense.
*Chad still has little to no pocket presence.
*Chad throws far too many bullet passes and does not put enough velocity on his passes.
*Our OL completely blows in run blocking and is at best mediocre in pass protection.
*Our second round RB daniel Thomas looks to also be mediocre although behind a horrible OL.
*Marshall looks to be improved from the last game by not falling to the ground at first contact.. And the fumble was bad.
*Henne looks like a different QB in terms of how fast he plays.
*I saw our OC quit from a playcalling standpoint when he called consecutive runs on 3rd and 30's. He was happy to punt instead of trying to move the ball.
*Pass defense stinks
*Run defense is OK. *
*Kevin Burnett is so much more of an upgrade over Cbowder. He gets alot of QB pressure.
*Pouncey has no problem snapping the ball and shows signs of meaness.
*Although he looks fairly fast, JT cannot get to the QB and contributes very little.
*Defense still dropping or not taking advantage of wouldbe turnovers.
*Reggie has no problem running up the middle and actually at times shows he is tough to bring down.
*Morlon Moore had a solid game with the big catches
*Odrick showed nothing tonight
*Starks showed nothing tonight
*Davone will be a dolphin for the majority of his career. At least another 6 years.
*In all fairness, the flag on JT to negate the safety was a bad call by the refs. Vets with 10+ years in the league do not make those types of penalties.
*So much for discipline, we get far to many penalties, especially presnap!
*Reason why we lost the game. Aside from our offense being mediocre, IMO if MArshall does not fumble, we won the game. Hope this doesnt happen in the regular season
*Offense needs ALOT of work. Mainly because of the below average OL we have.
*Hope defense steps it up in the regular season and stops giving up long plays.
*After a great showing in week 1, Livas has dropped off.

Thats it I think

Terrible post. -5

Posting Henne's passing numbers isnt coming close to seeing the full picture. He decided to tuck and run at the goal line when he needed to be finding receivers there. That 10 points should have been 14 if he would have seen Bess open instead of trying to tuck and run when there wasn't even an opening this time.

I saw this team finish 31st in scoring last year playing exactly the way it did tonight, and a huge part of that is the QB's lack of ability to make plays in the red zone, resulting in us scoring 4 points less on good drives than we should. That's not good enough, especially when we know our defense isn't gonna contribute to the point scoring by generating picks.

Awful post. That line gave him no time to scan the field. Please think before you post.

How is it a terrible post. It is the facts from the game. Your saying we do not get penalized alot or Livas hasnt dropped off? You do not believe Burnett is an upgrade over Chowder and the OL is great at run blocking and pass pro? Tell me what makes you think these things.. Why do you think we going to win alot of games scoring only 10 ppg with our starters like we did last night?

Im sorry it makes no sense to you. Obviously if the ball had more velocity it woulda been easier to catch.

It's preseason. He wanted to see how our run game was going to fair against a good Tampa Dline. He's just trying to evaluate what our personnel are going to do. We didn't get a chance to look at the run game before those series because we were focused on the passing. It's not a clear indication of what we should expect from Daboll.

Pass defense stinks? Really now? Our underneath game needs work, but we barely gave up any good passes yesterday to their starters. We just have to take advantage of turnover opportunities or we're butt ****ed.

Yeesh, hating just to hate.

Well I certainly hope you are right. I dont want to see this team giving up in any facets of the game like they did last year

Its the underneath stuff that turns into 1st downs and thirty yard gains. Thats the pass defense that stinks. I couldnt believe it when Bell dropped that easy INT and there was another one that Vontae might have been able to have had he stretched out a bit more. These are the opportunities that we have to take advantage of.

The starters could only muster 10 points. Thats the point

i know its preseason but i did sense a little quit in the play calling
28 seconds on the clock you got the ball why not throw deep sideline a few times
and try to go up at the half heck you get in field goal range in that spot and make it
i would have fist pumped..

What does that mean??? One or the other... not both. Mostly good observations, I agree about lying in wait for NE, not showing our hand.

Well he throws alot of bullets now, which overall I like, but I would also like to see some air under the deep balls. The deep pass to marshall was sweet. I would have liked to see the deep ball to Gates with the same velocity. Although had Gates caught the pass I probably wouldnt be saying this right now. Just drop it into the bread basket

What do you think About Odrick? He looks slow last ngiht

Im sorry it makes no sense to you. Obviously if the ball had more velocity it woulda been easier to catch.

It makes sense to no one.

You are using velocity the wrong way. If the pass had more velocity, it would have been a laser. A pass with velocity = a strong bullet pass

The ball was a perfect pass to Gates.
