There's been enough talk about Gase this week but how about the players? Who should be back and who should we get rid of one way or the other. Please, spare us all the "we need to keep these 3 players and get rid of everyone else' as we all know that's not going to happen. Regardless of who the HC is we need some changes of course so here's the way I look at it player by player.

Defense
Wake-I'd only bring him back for the vet min. I'd have traded him 3 years ago and get something for him.
Woodard- Yes, he can be part of the rotation
Taylor-Yes, he's our best DT at this point. Wish he had stayed healthy
Godchaux-yes, part of the rotation
Spence-Yes, part of the rotation
Quinn- Only if he'll take a pay cut. I was hoping for way more from him
Branch- get rid of him already
Harris-cheap contract but not expecting much from him
Kiko- Yes, better than the rest at this point
Baker-Yes
RM-Yes but he needs to play much better next year. I don't trust him at this point
Allen-Yes as a back up and ST player
Hull-see above
Anthony-get rid of him already
Howard- extend him while we can
McCain- yes but get him back inside
Minkah-of course but play him at FS
TJM-Yes but short leach
Jones- find a dumb team to take that horrible contract off our hands
Armstrong-yes as a back up and ST player. He doesn't cost much
Aikens- he has ONE job so he needs to be special at it

Tannehill-will be hard to cut because of that horrible contract but draft a QB
Brock-get rid of him
Fales-who cares?
Gore-one more year if he's up to it
Drake-Use this guy more often as he can make plays
Ballage- Give this guy some real snaps these last 5 games to see what he can do
Parker-get rid of him already but get a big WR to replace him. One that stays healthy
Stills-why are we not using him this year?
Grant- yes, hope he comes back 100%
Wilson-see above
Amendola-Yes
Gesicki-I wanted Goedert but gotta hope he'll get better at this point.
Derby-he's always hurt so let him go
O'Leary-yes
Smythe-Yes and use him more. He actually looks like a TE
Tunsil-of course yes
Brendel-yes, he's a good player
Larsen-get rid of him
Swamson-yes
Davis-yes and move him to RT and get a guard in free agency
James-no, he's going to want way more money than he's worth and he misses games every year

Denny-yes
PK-Yes
Punter-Yes

we should have at least 12 new players next year if Gase stays. If Gase gets fired that number could go up to 20

some of the player I said I'd keep is only because we can't replace everyone in one year. Doesn't mean I really want all of those guys back.

Basically agree with yout list above, add a DE, CB2 maybe DT to this defense- move McCain back to nickel and bring along Armstrong and J Davis.

On offense you still need a TE OL and maybe a WR.

If you could hit on a large portion of those moves (I know its difficult) I think If we stay a little more healthier than this year...

I do see them doing something at QB, Im leaning drafting one rather then any of those FA.

I think the defense is due for a hard reset. I would say anyone not named Baker, Fitzpatrick and Howard should be fair game for replacement if an upgrade can be found.

You have safeties. Taylor was playing well, CB 2 is a must and DE. You cant turn over that whole D I don’t think in a year.

My plan would be to get 3 players in free agency.
1-a starting corner to go with Howard
2-a starting guard. Like I said before, I'd let James go and start Davis at his best position which is RT
3-A big WR if we can get one
3 players in free agency is not a lot and we can clear enough money for it

Now we go into the draft looking for a QB, a pass rushing DE or maybe even two and maybe a LB
As far as RB, if Gore doesn't come back then we should get a RB in free agency or the draft.
Agree with Albert, one more DT will be needed.

Also, forgot to say that Sitton should be back but don't count on him to stay healthy for all 16 games. So maybe get two guards

Quinn should be gone. He's not going to take enough of pay cut to justify his lack of production. I'd love to see Tanne gone. The cap hit stinks but we need to move on. Spread it out over 2 years. I'm really just tired of hearing of this guy. We're not doing too much next year with him or without him so bring in a vet at a reasonable price and draft someone with the eye on 2020. Maybe for once we'll get lucky.

Oddly I am in almost 100% agreement with your lists. One exception is I re-sign Wake to another 1-2 yr deal and let him finish his career here. If you listen to CK at all, Wake is having one of his best seasons this year, even though it may not be obvious to most fans (20% pressure rate). I am getting rid of Quinn for sure, unless like you mentioned he decides to take a massive pay cut which won't happen.

You've got it more or less right Danny but depends really on what we expect of the team next year.

If we see it as a bridging year to 2020's draft for a QB, then why are we even trying to win games with a half decent team ? Just get rid of anyone who has any value and put some lame duck Painter like QB in there and hope for that #1 pick (because in all honestly the reason I believe the 2020 draft is talked about is because of Tua and if you are not picking at #1 you aren't getting him, outside of him I've yet to see someone that excites me personally, but I guess someone could come through, I'm no fan of Fromm).

If we expect a playoff run or we expect to draft the QB of the future in 2019 then priorities should change, we would want to keep vets like Amendola, Kiko and TJ around and just tweak the roster a bit to give us more capacity to win games.

I think they will almost certainly move on from Jones, in some way, Branch, Parker and Larsen and all but out of the building already. They are stupid enough to give James more money than he deserves. Cam Wake and Frank Gore are still two of our best players which is a great compliment to them but a sad reflection of the young talent around them, there's another season in both of them whether they want to come back to a .500 or worse team is debatable.

The biggest call though will be what we do with Tannehill's contract, the betting money will be on a restructure. I don't think it's impossible to dump him at the end of 2018, the case though is clearer for 2019 and it's still probable that they we run with him on his current terms. That will dictate where we go.

I suppose Kiko should stay, since he'll only cost 3 million (+3.5m in dead money against the cap). You only save 13 million by cutting Tannehill, so even if we draft another one I say we keep him.

Special mention goes to Tannenbaum for making Tannehill, Rashad and others so difficult to cut because of restructures... of course, that's the money he used to get this team "loaded" with talent, so who can blame him, right? /s

Speaking of which, another guy who probably needs to be cut is Sitton.

Cutting Tannehill after June first would be my way to go. The dead money would "only" be a little over 5mill for 2019. The dead money in 2020 would be 13mill but he'd be the only player on the books for dead money so it'd be ok to do it then.

I mostly see it as trying to bring in talent thru the draft but also with younger free agents. Instead of getting 8 2nd and 3rd tier free agents I say we get just 3 good ones and build the rest thru the draft.

This team has no identity. It does not excel in any particular area. The secondary has some big time talent. After that, however, every other position unit is average to below average. This team is not close.

CK ran a mock draft on one of the simulators that seemed too good to be true. We need that kind of infusion of talent.

DT who can rush, complete DE, three down LB, CB2, guard, young QB, TE, WR1, swing tackle. It's a massive list of needs.

Personally, I am very aggressive. I'd play out the string in 2019 and snag an elite QB in the 2020 draft. Honestly, this franchise isn't that insightful.

Agreed or try to trade him to Jacksonville since they are going to be desperate for a QB.

QB None
RB Drake, Ballage; I love Gore but we have to get younger
TE O'Leary, Gesicki, Smythe; draft another in the middle rounds
WR All besides Parker; I've wanted him to succeed so badly and still get so excited when he does show his promise but he is what he is - a talented, yet highly injury prone player
OL Tunsil, Brendel, Swanson, Davis; Kick Davis out to RT (never been a James fan - guy is hurt a lot and will cost too much), needless to say we have to solve the OLine/guard issue

DL Godchauk, Taylor, Wake; need upgrades at the rotational roles behind the DTs. Wake on a one year deal as a pass rush specialist only
LB Baker; I would try and move Alonso, he's making plays and has stats because he's being targeted a **** ton. Guy is dumb as bricks.
CB Howard; Need a big upgrade at CB2
S Fitzpatrick; Pick a role, move on from the other two
