News on Brown signing... Brayon close?

If Braylon signs first that 21 million will look small compared to what France will want then.

They need to offer 22 and get it done now.

I'm sure glad you people are not in charge of signing players. don't you even realize that by giving in and giving him that money that we could lose players like McMichael next year? remember football is a TEAM sport and you need enough money to field a TEAM. and a TEAM is made up of more than one "star" player.

I disagree. The insanity has to stop somewhere. If 1st round pick's salaries continue to increase at their current rate, and the salary cap continues to increase at its current rate then the guaranteed money alone in these contracts will eventually exceed a teams entire cap.

I say let the insanity stop with Ronnie Brown and Todd France. Offer them close to what a top RB in the NFL makes. There is nothing in Ronnies resume that could lead you to believe that he is going to be the best tailback the world has ever seen. He will be good...no doubt. But is he going to be better than James, or Faulk, or even Alexander? Maybe, but he hasnt proven it yet. Offer him close (80% or so) to what a proven top 5 running back gets. If he doesnt want it then let him sit and next year he can see how much his holdout hurt his value.
I am not condeming Ronnie as a person or player on our team...but I wholeheartedly agree. This salary BS needs to come to an end somewhere. I don't give 2 steaming piles of monkey p1ss what the "going rate" is, how much a team makes, what fans want, etc. etc. etc. The simple, fundamental basis of this situation is that these guys PLAY A GAME and make RIDICULOUS amounts of money. Owners pay it because they are forced to in order to have talent and due to the NFL Union. Someone needs to put an end to this craziness soon.

And the Dolphins just move on without Ronnie?? Just give away a top 5 pick, for nothing?? I agree with your outrage but, now isn't the time for one team to take a stand to their own detriment. This salary escalation needs to be stopped by all the teams, not just Miami.

Well, that's why it hasn't happened yet!! No one has the cajones to step out of line and buck the system. Waiting for the NFL and all the team owners to come to an agreement on this is like asking the Middle Eastern countries to all "just get along"

Poor Ronnie, 21 million dollars isn't enough money. I'll never see that money in my life, nor will anyone I know, EVER!

 Good 'ol athletes. He hasn't even done anything in the NFL, why the hell should he earn 21 million GUARANTEED?
you don't blame Ronnie and his agent....you blame Eli Manning, Archie Manning and the damn Giants for their stupid contract last year. They screwed the market

With all thenumber one busts there are, i would trade out of the first round and stockpile 2's and 3's all i could. the money they give to unproven rookies is ridiculas......

So we step out and lose a top 5 pick for nothing....I just can't see that happening.

They just repoorted on 790 that the Fins have offered $19.5 million in guranteed and there are issues with back end contract escalators and that it will likely be a long process.

Has to start somewhere. No, I would rather have Ronnie in camp. I certainly don't like the idea of just giving away the #2 pick when it took so much pain and anguish to earn that pick. However, if Ronnie wont deal then what are we to do? We made him a reasonable offer based on the salary cap increase. He rejected it. Now, if these reports are true, we made him an offer that was far more than reasonable....21mil in guarantees. Reports are that he rejected that too. Since he didnt like those deals, offer him a contract based on what Running Backs make in the NFL, not based on what some idiot agreed to give Alex Smith.(a QB) Prove to him its fair by having the actual salaries of the top running backs in the league printed out. If he still wont accept the deal then wish him well and say goodbye.

takes 2 to trade, and a lot of people think like you...they feel the high first round picks just arent worth the risk so they arent willing to give up a lot of draft picks in a trade.

Sounds great....sure would be tough to choke that down though.

I really think rookie contracts should all be incentive based. You get paid by how well you perform.

I like the NBA system when it comes to rookie contracts. You basically have your deal negotiated for you once you are drafted. Makes for strenous times like this to be non existant.

yeah, it would. It would pay benefits in the future though, both for the Phins and for the league as a whole.
I don't care about the league as a whole....the league will eventually take care of itself.

How do you think a move like this would affect future draft picks or future free agents who may be thinking fo playing in Miami one day?
