NFL and DirecTV agree to new 8 year deal for Sunday Ticket

I am disapointed by this myself. I actually like DTV and have been with them for years but I rather not feel like I need to stay with them if I want to watch miami play.

More competition would bring the price down for us and the profits up for the NFL. There has to be more to it.. It just make sto much sense for the NFL not to allow other to broadcast all their games..

Perhaps FOX and NBC have a say in this?

Possible. But I don't understand why Fox or NBC wouldn't want to be onboard with streaming games. Couldn't they get a piece of that cake too?

Much prefer game rewind because u can watch the games all through the week. The Sunday ticket to me is a ripoff but if if you feel good about it then its worth it to u.
I would be in favor of a one team package where u could watch all their games. Make it like 40 dollars

I wish they would just let us subscribe to only whichever team(s) we wanted (needed) to see. Like the Dolphins for us, for lets say 50 bucks a year.

A friend of mine gets it every year and he's a big Dolphin's fan so it's all good.

I do like the idea of just subscribing for your own team for a cheaper price. That makes sense to me.

That's the only way it makes sense for me but with fantasy football it does make you more interested in other games

just stream the damn live games already. every other major sports let you do this with a subscription. infuriating.

Having recently switched from Charter Cable to DTV I can easily say that the hardware and firmware capabilities is light years ahead of Charter and Comcast(what I used previously). It is legitimately a better product all around.

In the end all these stand a lone TV entertainment providers will become obsolete in favor one digital fiber optic data signal.
Satellite will have a niche where they havent put down fiber optic cable... ...yet.

Generally speaking I do agree that the NFL monopoly with DTV is dumb.

Red Zone is one of the few things in life where the actual experience is better than the brochure.

Usually, stuff sounds Awesome and looks delicious in the advertising ... and then you are disappointed.

Red Zone sounds cool ... and then you sit down and watch "just a few minutes" because you are interested in that particular game. But .... there are no commercials ... so you just watch the TD from another game and then go double box to see Andrew Luck on 4th and 1 while Geno Smith gets intercepted in the end zone. So .... you stay just a couple more minutes. Yeah, it may not be exactly like that ... but that is how it feels all the time every week. Watch out ... the Red Zone just might surprise you.

As for Sunday Ticket ... I also wish there was a US streaming option without needing Direct TV, or at least a single team online option. This deal bums me.

But the technology is not a dinosaur. If it's replaced it will be like how fast food joints put some restaurants out of business .. different, not better.

I have to stay with DTV for another EIGHT YEARS! Ugh....

For me, I'd never subscribe to the Redzone channel. I enjoy watching more than just teams getting into the redzone. 50 yard completions or crazy runs dont happen in the redzone.
agreed, i have had sunday ticket since it came out, and since they have added redzone, i can honestly say i have never watched it.

redzone is for fantasy sport players only.

the one feature i like though with sunday ticket that was added a few years ago ( or at least i only noticed it a few years ago) is the replay of every single game from sunday ticket in 30 minutes worth.

lets u watch every other game in a short period of time that u miss due to dolphin games or other games.

I suggest you keep that habit of never watching Red Zone. Because, if you do, one day out of sheer boredom, actually watch from 1 pm to 4:30 PM EST, you might just have that feeling. Kinda like the first time you ate some really good food (e.g. steak, lobster, nachos) and wondered how this could have escaped your taste buds all those years.

I have been with Time Warner cable for 6 years and just recently signed with Direct Tv. I am extremely happy with the move and the new genie is the best thing that has ever happened to us. I am very happy about this deal and have had no issues with the tv cutting in and out like some say. time warner would get choppy on a perfect sunny day and it was wayyyy more expensive.

Old technology. How? Satellites are needed because fiber isnt everywhere and and l dont think it will be no time soon. Eight years is about right. I must say the online Sunday ticket service sucks.

I don't get the old technology thing either. Of course fiber optics is the new hot thing but it's barely in 15% of the country.

Didn't this deal happen like a month ago? I know it was announced a while back and I think we had a thread about it.

Meh. Having to pay for a bunch of channels and service that I don't need just to watch NFL games is a waste of money. Really wish NFL would get with the times and offer more online streaming options to the US.

I'm very lucky I've had it for so long, that I'm grandfathered in, to just have and pay for the NFL package.. The box is actually shut off 6 months a year, 6 days a week..
