NFL DRAFT & RUMORS MEGATHREAD

They could put the franchise tag on him which gives them some leverage while they negotiate a long term deal.
But again I go back to my original post where I don't think a lot of teams think he is worth the contract he is going to get.

Well thats not the 49ers problem once they trade him, if they can just manage to get something decent in return which they should be able to because of the desperation for QB's.

You think Chop is starting over Phillips and Chubb?

I don’t.

Does it matter? I know he’ll be in the same if not more amount of pass rushing downs. Edge rushers are drafted to rush the passer, that’s what he’s good at and that’s how you win and change games. That’s how you stop these 50 million dollar QBs.

Mitchell was not even in the same galaxy as top 5 that’s so stupid not even you believe that. Chop was much closer to elite level as a pure edge rusher than Mitchell was at corner. Chop actually was top 5 in win % rate and % of sacks/hurries/pressures/qb hits per rush. Mitchell was not top 5 or close an any single category.
If we had Mitchell you'd be on here everyday calling him Champ Bailey and telling anyone who said he wasn't a top 5 corner how wrong they were.

And you know you would!

I’m afraid of a 6 year senior who is turning 25 towards the end of his rookie season and only has one full year of experience as a starting CB.

But I think Porter goes in the second round especially if there’s a cornerback run to end the first round/early second.
I am hoping we can get a DB in the 2nd round. There will be some good ones available.

Ideally we can trade down from 13 and get some day 2 and day 3 draft capital which will give us the ammo needed to trade up in rounds 2 3 and 4 if we think we need to.

Jackson isn't very good and Paul was flat out bad last year. Simmons would be the best Tackle on the roster the second he was drafted.
Jackson isn't very good? Did you go back and check the running game stats when Jackson was in and out of the lineup. Are you aware he was playing hurt before he went on IR?

I wouldn't mind taking Ewers with one of our 5ths. Please dont take Gabriel.
I don't love either one, but I guess we need to take somebody, lol. I just wish I didn't feel like McD's #1 criteria is that the new QB can't actually threaten Tua in any way.

I've got 5 years of Jackson that tells me he's not very good.

Nope I’m very fact based and need things to back it up. Mitchell has no case for being a top 5 qb, he’s not even top 5 in any single category like chop is. And even then I’m not claiming chop is a top 5 pass rusher. In either case even if he was champ Bailey, it still wouldn’t make corner more important than a pass rusher

Mitchell is much more valuable than Chop
I agree. Chop has an abundance of talent but in the end his shortcomings against the run is the main reason why Mitchell is the better player. Mitchell is a more well rounded talent.

I dont think we really need to draft a QB since Zach Wilson could be viewed as a developmental QB in addition to being our backup but if a decent QB fell into our lap in the later rounds I might take them since Wilson is only signed to a 1 year deal.
