NFL Network Analysts weigh in on Tannehill

Heath Evans likes Tannehill bc Ryan goes and helps support Evans charity...
 
As with Jon Stewert's piece the other night, as long as the o-line isn't atrocious, "I'll take it."

Amen bro.

Albert is get old and has a history of injuries. He is also new to the team and coaching staff. Every single OL starter is playing between 2 new teammates.

And if, Heaven forbid, Albert goes down ... thus could get ugly.

The OL rebuild is in full effect. It needed to happen. But, just because you hire the FA's and draft the rookies doesn't mean they will automatically become decent NFL players ... and it dang sure doesn't mean it will happen immediately.

I'm hoping this OL comes together quickly. But, we fans shouldn't rush to judgment now, nor in the first few games of the season. It will be bumpy at first. I'm just crossing my fingers it eventually comes together.

I agree 100%. The only returning starter from last season is Pouncey so we will actually have 4 new guys. None of them have played together so it is realistically going to take the first 6-8 games for these guys to jell into a cohesive unit. The talent is there but it's going to take some time and growing pains early on to fully solidify as a unit. I don't think many people are giving that enough consideration and as a result will be seriously disappointed early on.

I agree that we will get better as the season progresses. however we're not replacing as successful unit with 4 new players. we had the WORST O-line in our teams history, on the field and off. even if the season starts out with the second worst line in our history it will be an improvement, as the season progresses the talent difference should show itself. Add in a better blocking RB, and a new system that will move at a higher pace..... i think we will be able to hide some of there inexperience with a ball that moves down the field faster.

Our O-line cost us 4-5 games last year. if it cost us 2-3 games, and we get that "Big step forward" from the QB, i think we will be perfectly happy.

Yeah I agree with this too. Sure, there will be growing pains with the new line but will those growing pains make them worse than historically bad. I don't think so. At the begining of the season the line may be average to below average but as long is it's not piss poor it should be an improvement.
 
One thing for sure, this off-season has been all about getting Ryan Tannehill some help. This front office obviously believes in him

I'm really concerned about our OL, especially after we heard that they've been getting dunked on in OTAs.
 
Anyone saying we have a decent OL now is seriously setting himself up for a catastrophic meltdown... Don't get me wrong, it could be... but its far from a certainty... the only reason it cant get any worse is because last year was worst ever... The odds of that happening 2 years in a row are very slim...
 
Where are those posters who said RT had trouble pre snap?

Everyone knows this is a big year for all in Davie.
The only thing right now missing from this offense is a true seam threat TE.
 
Evans is starting to be more objective now the that the Patriots are in their sunset years with Brady and Belichick. He is doing this to increase his approval with fans outside his previous love fest with TB/BB.
Ryan Tannehill will ABSOLUTELY be a better QB this year. The Oline was a joke and we were fortunate to win the games we did with that collection of broken parts.
I am excited about what Lazor brings to the team as well.
We have a tough schedule, but I think we will play toe to toe with everyone. The injuries, penalties, and the bounce of the ball will determine our season.

And two starting OGs and a few prayers that our starting rookie RT works out a lot better than most rookie RTs work out.
 
Dennis Hickey's work on fixing the offense is only partially done. Jeff Ireland left the offense in such bad shape that it wasn't possible to fix it in one off-season. I am hopeful that the offensive line, once it has a few games to gel, will be somewhat better than last year. And I am hopeful that getting an additional half-second to one second of protection on each pass play will be enough to allow Ryan Tannehill to show us whether he has what it takes to be a NFL QB or not. There are lots of questions this season, but unlike prior seasons where I had little hope of seeing improvement, this year there is at least a chance. I'd rather the year three evaluation of Ryan Tannehill be fair
