NFL Rumors: Miami Dolphins not expected to give Mike Pouncey long-term deal

make him finish his contract, see if he learns how to be a good person as well as a great player. What we cannot do is tell people the dolphins don't allow players to mature, change or give second chances. If you say you have a nurturing environment that allows players to reach their maximum potential, you have to be will to be patient with him both on and off the field. Now if pouncy is involved with more than we can currently confirm, by all means dump his ass, but... until then, I'm hopeful he can learn and grow as a person.

Good point. Maybe you're not so "wild" after all.....lol

The Phins option to extend for 2015 is based on the new CBA, and will be at the average price fro centers from #3 through #25. No reason to think on that. Extend and wait a year.

PS- Got that mail sent today. Sorry for the delay.

Now is a good time to o a full rebuild and make a clean break. We can probably get a 2nd or 3rd for him and replace the C position. I'd take a trade if we could get that. There is no difference really in replacing 4 or replacing 5.

What?

I wouldn't trade Pouncey for anything less than a 1st.

It would be dumb of this team to trade our best lineman in a year that will determine Philbin and Hickey future.

Both are only on two year deals and need to win NOW.

Unless some team offers up a sweet deal, Pouncey will go nowhere.

looks like 5 new oline starters within the next few years...unreal

I mean if that's the case why not trade Pouncey now and at least get something for him instead of letting him walk? I'm sure Pittsburgh would take him...they're projected to take an O-lineman anyway.

you'd be selling low right now...i'd give him this year see if he plays high level like 2012 again and then sell with 1 year left on his contract...unless he proved to be a good soldier in the lockerroom etc then you can reconsider keeping him etc

he's already tarnished his market value short term at least...hurt his potential earnings as well

Ikard from OU s/b available in the 5th or 6th & is my preference to replace to Pouncey.

Pouncey, I bet, will not be able to stay on the straight & narrow!

... A 5th/6th round pick to replace our PB center?!?

:bobdole: Yep, seems legit.

The issue there is that next years draft won't be as deep as this years draft at OL. I'm betting we can get Pitts 1st rounder for him, same spot he was drafted. Pitt has his brother to keep him straight.

So the guy makes one pro bowl (which is a popularity contest any way) and now he's irreplaceable? Jeff Saturday has made 6 pro bowls and he was undrafted, Chris Myers has made 2 pro bowls and he was a 6th round pick...what's your point?

i'm thinking right now the value would be more 3rd rounder...not enough for me...i don't see a 1st rounder coming back at all...maybe next year if he played well enough we could pull a 2nd...

Not worth it for a 3rd...still think you could pull a 2nd for him this year...despite his off field stuff he's still a good O-lineman, maybe not a great center but he could be a great Guard. The head bobs take him down a bit as a Center.

If we could somehow get a late first for him I'd be all over it.

off 2012 you could have gotten a top 20 pick likely for him...but not anymore

If true we have this year and next year under the franchise tag. but, if they truly feel this way, i'd trade him now.
