NFL Rumors: Miami Dolphins not expected to name Dion Jordan a starter in 2014

Once Philbin gets fired after next year and Coyle goes with him, Jordan will still be here.

Shelby turned out to be pretty good too. Given that, I think Jordan should play more as I felt he did well while on the field. It's on coaching if they can't utilize him.

Jordan will be competing with Vernon for RDE.

MIA is not about to tell the Herald that he has been anointed the starter.

Exactly, Jordan not being an every down starter shows just how deep we are at defensive end. Wake and Vernon combined for 20 sacks this past season and Jordan as third pass rusher only makes our defensive line all that more dangerous. If Jordan makes a Vernon like jump in year two, we might end up having one of the best trios of pass rushers in the league.

Well said.

Jordan is going to be a boss.

i watched jordan closely the few snaps he played and as the year went on he was invisible. no pass rush moves whatsoever. i just go by the eye test and so far hes been awful. wouldnt be surprised at all if hes an all time bust for this franchise. i just dont understand for the life of me how a guy who never dominated in college as a pass rusher is not only expected to do so in the pros but is drafted 3rd overall...only miami

You must not have watched him close enough. He had quite a few hurries and hits, especially early on in the season. We all knew he was raw going into the season, but we can see the type of potential he can have if he works hard and is healthy.

Another thing people keep trying to forget, Jordan had a shortened training camp and preseason. Also dealt with a recovery during the offseason. Im glad he saw limited time last season. Kept him healthy and allowed him to watch and learn the NFL a bit. Plus he is young and has big frame to add a lot of muscle too over the years.

Vernon played great and Wake is Wake. He doesnt deserve to be a starter yet. Let him earn it and see how bad he wants it. If he reaches anywhere near his potential, he is going to be a scary good player for us for years to come.

When we drafted Dion Jordan there was a lot of excitement because of his amazing body and speed and moving up in the Draft. I saw Olivier Vernon interviewed a month or so later and the interviewer was a bit dismissive of OV as Jordan was the new shiny toy, but Vernon was all about team and looking forward to playing with Jordan. He said that he learned from his first year and was expecting to make big progress in year 2.
A year later, Vernon was the DE that had a great season and now Jordan is viewed as chopped liver by someone we've never heard of. I expect Dion has learned from his first season and is in the process of physically building up (he needs to put on 15+ lbs). He's very much a work in progress, but these speculative articles are partly written to be controversial and make Dolphin fans angry. Fact is our DEs work as a unit to help each other get better. Whether Dion is listed as a starter or not, doesn't really matter. He'll be in the mix ready to make a bigger contribution.

That draft was likely the worst I have ever seen in any Dolphins draft. Thanks Ireland. Didn't read the article. Don't care what it says....I do believe that Jordan will not be a starter in 2014 though. Major bust so far. Hopefully he can turn it around but I doubt it. It's up to HIckey to make us forget about that horrid draft. Maybe Hickey is a baller.......we sure as hell derserve one.

the only draft i can remeber that was almost as bad as last years was 1995, don shulas last. billy millner and andrew green in the first 2 rounds. wow what the hell was shula thinking. at least we traded millner for a pretty decent te in troy drayton. i really hope im dead wrong about the 2013 draft and we start seeing contributions this year.

I think there is a good chance that 3-4 players from the 2013 class will be starters this season. Seriously.

3 or 4 starters from this class?? who, please inform me.

Who? Other than Sturgis ( who is a gimme ). Maybe Jordan, Maybe Taylor. With out major injuries I don't see that happening at all.

Jelani Jenkins seemed like a better player than Wheeler when he was on the field. Not sure why, even more so than in case of Jordan, he didn't see field more.
