Sunday Ticket is a F-ing shame. They charge waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyy to much money for what you get. I understand the fact that it is nice to watch the game at home but it is still a rip off. I mean for the money you spend per week you could go to a local sports bar and drink and eat damn near

What sports bar lets you watch a game, eat, and drink beer for three hours for less than $15? I want directions!

I want the directions too :D I can't hit a bar for less than $50, without football. Then I have all the noise, have to walk more than 20 feet to the restroom, wait for a beer, pay too much :shakeno: for a shot of Jack Daniels, and listen to the other half complain in public  OH Yea, don't forget about food, cheap salsa and stale nachos, cold cheese sticks and hot wings that aren't that hot after all. WOW, that 15 bucks sure is a bargain when I can elliminate all the negatives, and scream my head off without making a public embarrassment of myself. :goof: I'll stay home and avoid driving on Sundays, eat well, drink hard, and have a blast in the comfort of my own bar! ;)

I love watching the game in HD. However, I can't justifiy to the wife on spending another $500 on a HD Tivo receiver just for the games. I guess I have to wait and watch it in regular broadcast.

You can just get the regular HD receiver without Tivo. It's $199 after rebates. Check out any place like Circuitcity.com

You are assuming everyone wants to go to a bar & sit there for 3+ hours watching the game.

Or you have people like me who do not live in Miami.

HD + NFL Package > Any Bar

C'mon,

Anyone who would actually post a comment that they would rather watch the game at a sports bar obviously has never seen a game in HD. I mean, shoot, not only can you see blades of grass on Blimp shots, Feel like you are the ball carrier on kickoffs and watch the blocking scheme in front of you, see the holes in the jerseys and the sweat getting knocked off a ball carrier as he gets hit...Do I need to go on...You see the game better than actually being there...For my money,,,,I have never enjoyed a game at a sports bar like that,,,oh yeah,,,,tab usually upwards of 60 dollars if I go alone...

Where at? I called last night and snot nosed punk told me they were $500. I even asked for the customer retention department and he told me they were not available.

Yep call the 800 number for the retention dept and tell them you want the shoppers special.

Last week they gave me the receiver for

299

they gave me these credits to go along with it.

$100 Mail in Rebate
Free Super Fan $49
Free Showtime for 6 months $72
$10 a month off HBO for 6 months $60
$5 a month off HD for 6 months $30
$5 a month off Total Choice for 6 months $30
Free off air antenna $49

Net cost to me -$101

Can't beat that they paid me $100 to take it off their hands. :D

Plus they assured me that they will upgrad this receiver for free next year.

Some of the reps wont give in on the Super Fan you have to get lucky.

I disagree, and I'm sure half the people on this board will agree with me, but the amount I'd spend at a local bar would greatly exceed the amount for the Sunday ticket. Maybe that has something to do with living in LA though...

I hear ya. I live in SF and between booze, food, and than more booze afterwards, I probably spend more than double the cost of Sunday ticket at the bar. I actually prefer it though. I get way too tense, frustrated, etc... when I watch at home. The bar keeps me level, I get to see 6 games at once (whoo hoo!), I hang out with all of my buddies who are watching other games, and there's free pool at the place I go on Sunday. I'd feel super anti-social if I stayed home on Sundays. My only complaint/ regret is I never get sound.

Sure I spend the $60+ at the bar, but there is an enjoyment factor as well. Its fun to talk smack with all of your friends watching other games. Plus, I get to see what's happening in all of the other games during commercials (and even in between plays for that matter.) At home, I just pace a hole in my carpet waiting for the next play. The bar is almost therapeutic in that sense. Plus, I usually stay for the late game and grade papers, which I would procrastinate on otherwise. Then there's free pool. I get home around 5 or 6, eat some dinner and pass out early, watching the late game. It's a glorious routine, and I wake up well rested on Monday. The bar is good!

NFL Sunday Ticket is well worth the cost, imo. I had to go to a sports bar for one season while we lived in an apartment. It was fun but most Dolphin games are at 10:00 on the west coast and I had to wake up a bit earlier than I like. Now I can wake up 5 minutes before the game and just turn on the tv.

On a related note, anyone know how many,if any, Dolphin games will be shown in HD through the Super Fan package? I get the impression that only 5 or 6 games are shown in HD every Sunday, So I'm debating whether the $49 upgrade is worth it.

The only thing better than Sunday Ticket is Sunday Ticket in HD with Tivo. I like being able to control my own replays and pause the game.

I'm not sure if this was posted yet, I'm pretty sure it has.

Directv had a special, they still may, where when you sign up for NFL Sunday Ticket, you get free programming for 4 months. It was their best package. So you are basically getting NFL Sunday Ticket for free. Your paying like $60 for the first 4 months till it is payed off, and then you can go back to the regular chanels. Not a bad deal.

strongly disagree.

i used to go to a sports bar and watch the game while eating. the bills at the bar each time would approach $50. the Sunday Ticket is, what? just under $300? so in 6 games i would have made my money back.

I agree they charge too much, but they do because they know they can.

and i have the HD package and receiver and look forward to watching high-def games :)

i have sunday ticket and love it.... and after hearing about the hd tivo/dvr deal i called up dtv and told them i was so unhappy, because i got the hd reciever no tivo 6 months ago, that i was thinking of going back to my cable provider and they said basically we will place teh order now for your hd tivo and issue you a cr credit to make it no charge for me also gave me teh superfan and a 50 programming credit... so net i got $100 off my bill and not only that but i don't have to wait on a rebate they are sending the hd tivo/dvr for free...

so thanks guys for posting this !
