Nolan to Falcons

Mike Nolan was a good DC for us and thank you Mike for the work you put in here. The results were not always there but we could do alot worse for a DC. Good luck next year!

Wonder what draft picks the Falcons gave us to get him since he's still under contract.

He wasnt under contract. A few beat writers and talking heads on ESPN have reported he is under contract, but its just not true. There was an option to renew his contract, but Miami never excercised that option at the end of the season. He is a FA coach.

It is a bit of a shock, but it really doesn't bother me. I haven't been too impressed with Nolan's defenses the last couple of years. They have been decent, but not over the top. I hope we do get some comp. picks out of the deal tho, that would be nice.

Its a good fit..Nolan's d is the type that is bend dont break and if the Falcons score touchdowns the d can be effective by holding teams to FGs..I wonder if they will switch to a 34..I doubt it.

Nolan’s contract had an option which allowed Nolan to opt-out.

Mike Nolan is fine, and we did good against the run...but our secondary failed big time. Im not sad to see him go, we need a guy in here who can seriously fix our secondary. I miss the Madison/Surtain/Walker/Marion secondary from years ago that rarely gave up anything lol.

Wait a minute here, a bit off topic but is Sparano giving Ryan a fistpump to the testicles?! Classic Vaark! I predict in about a years time that's exactly how Ryan will feel when he watches how Sparano runs the offense

actually that was unintentional, but I admit the placement worked out well.

No team has ever received compensation for letting a coordinator sign on to be a coordinator for another team.

What sucks is that if we bring in Zimmer we're gonna have to redo our front seven & find a legit ILB & DEs. Can Wake excel as a DE? I question letting Nolan go.

My understanding is Nolan's contract situation is it can be broken without penalties - I wouldn't expect any compensation whatsoever.

I've been operating under the assumption Nolan was gone since the coach search started.
